Guidance Notes

  • 1. Detailed Inspections using this checklist should be done while shut down on the platform.

  • 2. Conduct site verification inspection and discuss any issues with Safety upon return.

  • 3. Forward copies to Safety Admin.

Section 1. Helideck

Helideck Surface

  • Deck: Dark Green or Light Gray

    Drainage: Adequate to eliminate standing fluids

    Tie-Downs: a 0.63'/22mm (min) bar in 6'/15cm hole to support the weight of the largest. Minimum of 4, on multi-helicopter helideck sufficient to tie-down two helicopters. Should not be an obstacle.

  • On a scale between 1 and 5 (1 being poor and 5 being excellent) rate the condition of the helideck. Paint, rust, cracks, bird droppings, ect.

  • White line 16in/41cm in width to mark the boundary of the helideck load bearing

Lighting

  • Perimeter Lighting: Guarded with no expose wiring. LED Green (30-60 watts), no higher than 6in/15cm over the helideck

    Exits Lights: LED Blue (30-60 watts)

    Flood Lights: Should not impair pilot vision at night.

    H2S Release Warning Light: 2 must be visible, opposite each other

    Obstruction Lights: (Where applicable) Red Omni-directional on the highest obstacle (30 watts)

    Crane Light: (Crane that can reach the helideck) Rotating or flashing light when crane is operated, operator must step outside during helicopter operation

    Windsock Light: On the highest location, visible from all directions, give true wind direction, Illuminated for night operations. Check Condition?
