PRE -ARRIVAL PREPARATIONS.

  • 1/CONTRACTOR TO GIVE WITTEN NOTIFICATION TO THE ERECTOR THAT: The concrete in the footings, piers and walls and/the mortar has attained sufficient strength to support the loads imposed during steel erection.

  • 2/ Prior to the erection of any column, written notification of any repaired ,replaced, or field-modified anchor bolts and certification that those modification were done with the approval of the structural engineer of record.

  • 3/ Prior to steel being placed all other construction trades and processes will be barred from conducting work beneath the steel erection activities unless overhead protection is provided.?

  • 4/ Will arrangements for the steel erector to leave the fall protection that they erected in place for the other trades to use?

  • 5/ Are there adequate roads into and through the site for the safe delivery and movement of derricks, cranes,trucks and other necessary equipment?

  • 6/ Is there sufficient access room for separate vehicular and pedestrian traffic?

  • 7/ Is the site prepared in such a way that it is firm, properly graded, drained and readily accessible to the work area?

  • 8/ Is there adequate space for the safe storage of materials and the safe operation of the erectors equipment?

  • 9/ Will the material handling procedures be pre-planned in such a way that no employee will be required to work beneath a suspended load?

  • 10/ Steel erector will provide the CONTRACTOR with a site-specific erection plan for this project.

HOISTING AND RIGGING (1926.753)

  • 1/. Crane operators license must be current to operate equipment. COPY to the contracor

  • 2/. Has the crane had an annual inspections and did it pass the inspection within the past year?

  • 3/. Does the operator conduct crane inspections of machinery and moving parts before each use?

  • 4/. Swing radius of crane fully protected to prevent an employee from being struck or crushed?

  • 5/. Fire extinguisher rated 5 BC or above at the operators station?

  • 6/. The crane operator has direct control over the safety of the load, They have the responsibility to stop and to refuse to handle the load until it is made safe?

  • 7/. Does Fully qualified rigger inspect the rigging prior to the commencement of each shift?

  • 8/. Safety latches on hooks must be operable

  • 9/. Only employees engaged in steel connection or hooking or unhooking of the load permitted to be beneath the suspended load.

  • 10/. Will loads be properly rigged/carried when swung over the heads of authorised workers who can work beneath them?

STRUCTURAL STEEL ASSEMBLY (1926.754)

  • 1/ Fully planked or deck floor or nets must be installed and maintained within two stories or 30 feet, whichever is less, directly under erection work.

  • 2/ Plumbing -up equipment must be properly installed before the structure is loaded with construction material.

  • 3/ Metal decking must be securedagaist displacement before the end of shift.

  • 4/ Floor openings must be covered and mark or protected by guard rails or nets

  • 5/ Metal decking must be secured upon placement

COLUMN ANCHORAGE (1926.755)

  • 1/ Columns will be anchored be a minimum of 4 anchor bolts.

  • 2/ Competent person must determine whether guying or bracing is required.

FALL PROTECTION (1926.760)

  • 1/ Will perimeter safety cables be installed at the final interior & exterior perimeters of the floor & roof before the metal decking is installed?

  • 2/ All steel erection employees must have and use fall protection when 6'-0 feet and above.

  • 3/ Have all connectors been trained in accordance with 1926.761?

  • 4/ Is the Controlled Decking Zone restricted to employees engaged in the leading edge work?

  • 5/ Will the boundaries of the CDZ and within 90'-0 feet of the leading edge be clearly marked?

  • 6/ Have all the employees who will be working within the CDZ been trained in accordance with 1926.761?

  • 7/ No final deck attachments are to be made within the CDZ.

  • 10/ A good accessible ladder installation must be installed to upper and lower floor.

TRAINING (1926.761)

  • 1/ Steel Erector must provide to CONTRACTOR. documentation that all their employees have been trained on FALL HAZARDS.
