  • Hand oiler and oil

  • Spin-on filter cartridge

  • Grease gun and grease

  • Waste oil container (10 gallons)

  • Pressurized nitrogen bottle

Safety Guidelines

  • Schedule work with operating staff

  • Block traffic and set up alternate security measures

  • Follow site safety rules for lockout and tagout

  • Disconnect power and bleed oil pressure to zero before working on any part of the system

  • Report equipment damage or deficiencies

  • Review and follow manufacturer's O&M instructions

  • Dispose of used oil and filters, properly

  • Record results in the component maintenance log

Maintenance Procedures

  • Check operational limit switches

  • Check all control functions

  • Inspect hydraulic power system

  • Inspect hydraulic hoses for damage and wear

  • Inspect hydraulic pressure system for leaks. Tighten fittings as required

  • Inspect pump motor electrical connections for loose wires, frayed insulation, and signs of overheating

  • Inspect motor coupling and mounting brackets for loose or broken bolts

  • Inspect pump suction strainer. Clean as required

  • Turn off pump/motor power, bleed system pressure to zero

  • Renew oil and replace filter

  • Drain the oil from the reservoir and flush with mineral spirits or clean oil. After wiping down the tank sides and bottom to assure that no contamination remains, replace with clean filtered oil

  • Fill to near top of sight gage. Note: Level should be adjusted when the system is at zero pressure because of oil storage in the accumulator

  • Remove/replace oil filter

  • Check the accumulator pressure while the system is at zero pressure. For Delta units use Delta Charging Kit A02469-31 or equal. If tool is not available, observe the value that the pressure gage jumps to when power is turned on again. (See Hydraulic Se

  • Turn power on and bring system back to operation. Check for oil leaks.

  • Check the accumulator pressure by observing the pressure gage. Recharge the accumulator with nitrogen if its pressure goes below 25% of the hydraulic pressure switch setting.

  • Check the pressure relief valve by depressing the starter armature and allowing unit to run to the relief pressure value of 2200 psig. Adjust as necessary.

  • Clean and Test Motor.

  • Test motor starter overloads by pressing the test button. Replace if necessary or press reset.<br>Auto/Manual switch should be in the manual position.

  • Clean and lubricate motors

  • Measure motor current and compare to nameplate value

  • Check motor controller connections

  • Thoroughly clean the HPU; remove dust and spilled oil. Remove any rust build up on components; touch up paint where necessary

  • Cycle the barrier from the slave control panel. Confirm smooth operation during the raise and lower cycles.
