Maintenance Procedures
-
Valve supervision - turn the valve stem about three (3) complete turns, and check for a signal. Adjust the tamper device if necessary
-
Air pressure supervision
-
Inspect the pressure gauges for any damage
-
Tap the gauge to see if the needle is jammed or immovable
-
Check for proper air pressure
-
Gradually release air pressure, and note the pressure at which the air pressure switch activates the signal. When necessary, adjust the pressure switch. Re-pressurize the system.
-
Temperature supervision - mechanically activate the temperature switches, and check for a signal. Adjust if necessary.
-
Water level supervision - check the float mechanism for rust and freedom of movement. Move the float until signal is received. Adjust if necessary
-
Water flow alarms (zoned) - open test connection (usually located at sprinkler risers) or open inspector's test valve (located at end of most remote branch line). Check for proper transmission of signals from water flow paddle alarms or pressure switches
