Information

  • Belfast ATC is now permitted to use the ATM to vector to any published instrument approach procedure (except SRA) and to radar monitor aircraft on "centre-fix".

    ADC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    During the period of RiT operations the responsibilities for the Approach Control Unit as defined in unit instructions are delegated to the ADC controller. This includes responsibility for the provision of Air Traffic Control Service, Flight Information Service and Alerting Service within the airspace under the jurisdiction of Aldergrove Approach/Aldergrove Radar Control and for other traffic released by PC.
    The responsibility for the management of the TMA rests with the Aldergrove Controller.

    ADC Provision of Services:
    ADC will be permitted to use the ATM to provide,
    1. An APS to traffic;
    a. Inside CAS which is within 60nm of the ARP and below FL195, or
    b. Outside CAS within 42nm of the Aldergrove ARP.

    2. Vector and issue instructions to aircraft whilst also carrying out an ADC service.

    3. A radar service to;
    a. A maximum of 4 IFR movements at any one time should be considered the operational "normal". However, workload should be assessed by the duty controller. If necessary, to reduce the levels of traffic for any reason, controllers should consider the following actions:
    i. IFR departures may be held on the ground if required
    ii. IFR arrivals may be held by PC at the BEL if required.
    b. VFR traffic within the judged workload capacity of the ATCO involved.

    4. ADC must identify, validate & verify aircraft using standard MATS Pt.1 & 2 procedures.
