Signage

  • Do doors have signage "Fire Door" or "Smoke Door"?

Clearances in the closed position

  • Check Perimeter, are gaps between edge of the door and frame 3 mm at the head and hinge and lock sites?

  • Check the door leaf to the door seat rebate, does the average gap exceed 5 mm?

  • Do bottom gaps exceed 10 mm at the threshold?

Hardware

  • Do doors close satisfactorily upon detector activation?

  • Operate latches and verify the latch bolt engages into the striker plate sufficiently to hold the door in the closed position.

  • Are latch handles and latch bolts clean and do they operate freely and smoothly?

  • Are doors free from any visible delamination, buckling, warping, bowing, twisting or significant damage?

  • Are door edges in good condition and free from any splitting or damage on all sides?

  • Are door frames free of excessive distortion at any point along the frame?

  • Are vision panels in sound condition and free from any cracks?

  • Are perimeter trims and framing around vision panels secure, in sound condition with all fixing screws in place?

Door closers and pivots

  • Does. the closer arm and any pivots operate freely and smoothly?

  • Are the Doors free from any closer oil leakage?

  • Are screw fixings and mountings for door closers secure to the door and door frame?

  • Is the door closer body free from obstructions by walls, fixtures and/or fittings at any point throughout its swing?

  • The door closes fully and latches.

  • For doors with magnetic hold open devices, the door comes to the fully closed and latched position upon release of the hold open device?

  • Verify the opening and closing forces are such that the doors can be easily opened and closed in normal conditions and in fire mode, taking into consideration any pressurised systems within the building.

Hinges

  • Are hinges free from any undue wear and tear, correctly aligned, operating smoothly and freely?

  • Are hinges securely fixed to the door and frame?
