GENERAL

  • Visual inspection of the tractor(i.e. Damage, Cleanliness, Leaks, Tires)

  • Annual inspection sticker current?

  • Are engine fluid levels?

  • Check engine components? Belts, coolers, fan, etc.

  • Check all batteries/cables for condition and that they are mounted properly.

  • Check starting operation of tractor/truck?

  • Check for any abnormal engine noise, surging or smoke coming from engine?

  • Check for exhaust Leaks?

CONTINUE IN-CAB INSPECTION

  • Interior condition and cleanliness?

  • Inspect instruments and gauges to ensure working properly.

  • Inspect windshield and wiper operation, check for cracks and chips

  • Check seat operation and condition

  • Inspect lights; dome, dash, high and low beam operations

  • Verify odometer readings to paperwork?

  • Check truck binder to ensure all required permits/documentation are present?

  • Check air and city horn operation?

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

  • Verify the DVIR book is being signed by the technician after the repair and attaching a work order number.

  • Inspect seat belts operation and condition.

  • Fire Extinguisher fully charged and secured to vehicle?

  • Reflector Kit, inspect kit to make sure all reflectors are intact and secure.

  • Safety back up alarm operation?

  • Check for the Collision Kit?

  • Make sure the spill Kit is present and in good condition.

  • Equipped and operational on-board computer and DriveCam?

BRAKES AND SUSPENSION

  • Check brake air system. ( start truck, prime to 120 PSI, release brake valve, push/hold brake pedal, check gauges, listen for air leaks, bleed all air, key is on/truck is off, tap brake pedal, warning buzzer/light, 30 PSI brake valve should pop out)

  • Check brake shoe thickness?

  • Check brake drum wear?

  • Check brake components? Seals, brake chambers, slack adjusters, etc.

  • Check airlines for rubbing and to make sure they are secure.

  • Shocks, airbags or springs in good condition?

LIGHTING AND REFLECTORS

  • Check all lights and signals to make sure they are operating as required.

  • Insure reflective tape is present and in good condition.

TIRES AND WHEELS

  • Check for miss-matched tires tread.

  • Check for miss alignment of tires (irregular wear patterns)

  • Inspect tires for side-wall damage, missing chunks or cuts or tread separations

  • Check to make sure all tires are inflated to the proper air pressures. (105 steer and 100-95 drive)

  • Check for proper tread height.

  • Check valve stem and cap condition.

  • Inspect the overall rim and hub condition.

INSPECT FIFTH WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  • Verify lubrication and condition of mounting bracket and fifth wheel plate
