  • Inspect all flooring for pulled threads (carpet) or cuts/ gouges (vinyl), especially in slide-out roller travel areas.

  • Verify all flooring is properly fastened down, especially in corners.

  • Inspect all blinds and window shades for damage, stains, alignment, and proper operation.

Number of Emergency Exits

  • Verify minimum of two non-adjacent exits.

Location of Emergency Exits

  • Verify exits are located on a wall other than the one containing the main vehicle exit (motorhomes and truck campers only).

Access to Emergency Exits

  • Verify passageway doors between the primary and alternate exits do not have locks.

  • Verify no exit pathway obstructions exist due to aftermarket additions.

  • Verify alternate exits do not require use of a key or tool for operation from the inside. [Inspector’s note: Latching mechanisms for screen or storm windows over an exit window and zipper tabs for fabric exits do not need to be colored red]

Operation of Emergency Exits

  • Verify all exits function properly by hand and require no more than 20 lb (89 N) of force to open.

  • Ensure blinds and shades do not hinder operation of alternate exit.

  • Verify blinds and shades over alternate exists are movable with less than 20 Ib (89 N) of force.

Emergency Exit Markings

  • Verify alternate exits clearly marked EXIT in accordance with NFPA 1192 paragraph 6.2.6.1 and 6.2.6.2.

  • Verify alternate exit handles or latches are colored red (see NFPA 1.192 paragraph 6.2.7 for exception).

Seats

  • Verify seats are securely anchored to the floor.

Passenger Seat Belts (including living areas)

  • Verify number of seat belts matches or exceeds number of sleeping berths.

  • Verify seat belt is present and marked "to be used when vehicle is in motion, " and includes year of manufacture, model, and name.

  • Verify seat belt is securely anchored and properly connects, disconnects, and adjusts.

Slideout Operation

  • Identify the number of slideout rooms.

  • Identify operation system - electric or hydraulic.

  • Verify operation of all slideout rooms from a closed position to fully open and closed again. [Inspector’s note: Lubricate as needed. Some manufacturers do not recommend any lubrication but others recommend a dry lubricant. Verify with owner's manual.]

Slideout Interior

  • Inspect overall interior appearance.

  • Verify flooring is properly fastened and iInspect condition.

  • Verify furniture does not obstruct slideout operation.
