  • Has the scaffold been erected been, altered, dismantled by a competent person ?<br><br>Is there evidence of an initial handover certificate ?

  • Is there safe access to the scaffold platform ?<br>(unobstructed, suitable)

  • Are all of the standards fitted with base plates and where necessary timber sole boards<br>(vertical, staggered joints, incorrect spacing, damaged)

  • Are all of the ledgers: level, with staggered joints, correct fittings (load bearing) not damaged, tight fitting ?

  • Are all transoms: correctly spaced, correct length, good condition, fittings tight, within 300mm of a standard tube ?

  • Ledger bracing : All in place, correct fittings, tightly secured ?

  • Are guard rails : complete, non-missing, with correct gaps, top rail (950mm) with no gap greater than 470mm<br>Toe boards (150mm min), no loose fittings, vertical spacing correct ?

  • Is the scaffold secured to the building or structure in enough places to prevent collapse ?

  • Brick guards / netting (if applicable) : all in place, complete, not damaged, bottom retained by the toe-board ?

  • Are the working platforms : fully boarded and arranged to prevent slips and trips ?<br>(with no gaps where a person could fall through, wide enough, no visible damage, no trap ends, boards less than 2.13m secured, max/min overhang maintained. (38mm scaffold board, overhang between 50 - 150mm)

  • Are there effective barriers and notices in place to prevent access to incomplete sections of scaffold ?

  • Has the scaffold been designed and constructed to cope with the materials stored on it, and are these materials distributed evenly ?

  • Is the scaffold fitted with a current inspection tag ?

  • Are there provisions for securing the scaffold from unauthorised access when not in use ?

  • Is there evidence of unsafe practices being carried out ?

  • On public highway, are there enough notices, lights, bump protection ?
