Base

  • Is the scaffold on a solid base?

  • Does every standard have a base plate?

  • Are sole boards of the correct dimension being used?

Geometry

  • Are the standards vertical?

  • Are the ledgers and transoms horizontal?

  • Are the joints in the ledgers staggered?

  • Are the transoms correctly spaced?

  • Are transoms more than 50MM past the fitting?

  • Is there any other faults with the geometry of the scaffold?

Platforms - Boards

  • Are the supports correct and evenly distributed?

  • Is the over hang of the boards 50MM?

  • Is there any gaps or holes in the boards?

  • Are lapped boards safe?

Bracing

  • Is the ledger bracing fitted on alternate pairs of standards for the full height of the scaffold?

Tubes and Fittings

  • Are the tubes and fittings used in good condition?

Access

  • Is access provided to the full height of the scaffold?

  • Does the scaffold have ladder gates and trapdoors fitted on every access point?

  • Is there any other faults with access?

Loading

  • Is the scaffold correct for its intended use?

  • Are loads on the scaffold evenly distributed?

  • Are stacked materials secure?

Ties

  • Are sufficient ties used in accordance with safety regulation?

  • Are ties fixed with a double coupler?

  • Are ties fixed on both inner and outer ledgers or standards?

  • Is there a sufficient amount of ties in the scaffold?
