Area Specific Observations

  • Are there any new signs or advertising boards with sharp or protruding edges?

  • Does the emergency alarm cord work?

  • Is the alarm call button free from obstruction?

Equipment Safety

  • Are the guard rails on the baby change in a good condition (check for loose fittings)?

  • Are safety instructions in place and in a good condition? (Call button sign, drinking water sign)

  • Is the child's potty and child's step free from visible damage and in a good condition?

Fire Safety

  • Is the information on the fire action notices accurately displayed and in a prominent position?

  • Is heat producing electrical equipment in a well ventilated location? (E.g paper near computer vents)

  • Is the area free from excessive storage of combustible materials?

  • Do smoke detectors or fire alarm heads appear fully operational with no evidence of being tampered with?

  • Are access and egress routes clear from any obstructions and fire doors kept closed?

  • Are fire doors in good condition? E.g all three hinges fully attached, no holes through door, intumescent strip present all around sides and top of frame, frame secure.

  • Are all ceiling tiles in place and undamaged?
