  • Do the webbing slings have coloured tags showing expiry date?

  • Are chains stored correctly: Hung up?

  • Are 'Single Trip' slings being removed from reinforcement steel bundles?

  • Are 'Collar Chains' available for lifting of reinforcement steel?

  • If crane liftable waste skips are on site, are the examination certs held in the Lifting Folder?

  • Are webbing slings being removed from loads and stored?

  • Are loads being correctly landed on bearers, with the slings free to be removed?

  • Are landed loads stable? No hazard presented by risk of falling or toppling?

  • Are all observed lifting operations being carried out safely, in line with the Lift Plan/Schedule of Common Lifts?

  • Are all lifting accessories checked on site during the inspection in good working order?

Working at height,

  • Is suitable edge protection in place where a Slinger/Signaller is required to access a delivery vehicle?

  • Where wearing of harness is required, is slinger/signaller harness trained?

  • Where canti-deck is available on site, are members of the lifting team trained to install?

Supervisor Duties

  • Is the supervisor carrying out Daily Briefings (dependant on size of lifting team)?

  • Are toolbox talks relevant to lifting operations being briefed to the lifting team?

  • Have lifting team profiles being completed for Lifting Supervisor? Slinger/Signallers? and Plant Operators?

  • Are the lifting team wearing the correct PPE relevant to site requirements?

  • Are lifts being carried out as per the agreed Schedule of Lifts?

  • Are work areas segregated/controlled during lifting operations?

  • Are damaged lifting accessories being removed/destroyed, and recorded/evidenced on weekly checks?

  • Are all the crane daily and weekly check sheets completed and up to date?

  • Are all the excavator/telehandler daily and weekly inspections being completed and up to date?
