GENERAL SITE SAFETY

  • Safety signage e.g. Hazard Board, mandatory PPE, assembly<br>point, powder actuated tools (Ramset) etc. is displayed and<br>updated

  • Good housekeeping throughout site, waste / supplies /<br>materials are organised, adequate number of toilets (i.e. 1 per<br>15 workers)

  • Segregation between the village and the construction site is<br>effective e.g. children / visitors / residents are not able to<br>access the construction site<br>

  • Site security / public protection is effective and well managed

  • Traffic & Environmental management plans in place and being<br>followed. Spill kits available

  • There is a Permit to Work system in place and permits are<br>being issued and closed out correctly for all required works

  • Previous Safety Walk Corrective actions / Team Ryman / audit<br>action points are being closed out, as required

EMERGENCIES

  • All staff have been made aware of relevant emergency<br>procedures on site. Evacuation procedure is displayed,<br>identifies up-to-date assembly point<br>

  • Sufficient exit routes, clear of obstructions (doors open<br>outwards)

  • First Aid Kits and emergency equipment e.g. defibrillator are<br>easily accessible and correctly stocked. Sufficient first aiders<br>onsite

  • Fire Extinguishers: Adequate number, easily accessible and<br>current tag

HEIGHTS & SCAFFOLD

  • Platform ladders being used. No A-frame ladders or trestles.<br>Access ladders to scaffolds are secured top and/or bottom

  • Scaffold ladders / staircase accesses & gates are in good<br>condition, easy to use and free from obstructions.

  • Scaffold platforms are fully decked, bracing, ties, sole plates<br>are suitable for the task and being used correctly

  • Mobile scaffold in good condition, tagged and being used<br>safely – wheels locked, hand rails and access ladders in place.

  • Scaffold tags are clearly displayed, up to date and include<br>contact details. Unsafe scaffold clearly marked

  • Toe boards and guard rails installed correctly, no unsafe gaps<br>(>50mm between planks, >300mm to building), Consider falls<br>into voids.

  • Is the scaffold adequate safe distance from overhead<br>electrical power lines or other overhead hazards

  • Safety nets installed below high level work areas and are free<br>of debris.

  • Minimum clear Access of 450mm is in place on all scaffolds<br>and they are free from debris / materials that poses a trip<br>hazard or dropped objects hazard.

WORKERS WELLBEING

  • Health hazards are being proactively manage e.g. noise, dust<br>UV exposure, impairment etc.

EXCAVATIONS

  • Soil type identified, shoring certified and bridge guards in<br>place (if necessary).

  • Access is clear, cordons/signs/guard rails in place &<br>material/machinery away from edge

PLANT & MACHINERY

  • All plant and equipment is regularly checked, certification is<br>up to date (incl. crane cert), well maintained and labelled with<br>date of last service/WOF Verify 3-4 items per inspection

  • Only certified operators will use machinery. Licenses /<br>certifications up to date. Crane operator registered. Copies<br>held<br>

  • Operators manual available in plant / machinery drivers<br>compartment Verify 3-4 items per inspection

  • Are there adequate exclusion zones and or spotters in place around mobile plant?<br>

  • Is there adequate segregation for pedestrians and mobile<br>plant?

  • Lift plans and inspection records are being completed. Safe<br>methods followed and inspection issues rectified

  • Slings, chains and hooks correctly tagged. Straps/ropes in<br>good condition

  • Warning devices fitted and working. Exclusion zone & spotter<br>if necessary

POWERED EQUIPMENT & TOOLS

  • Electrical equipment, leads and tools have been tested and<br>tagged within 3 months (incl. all contractors items)

  • Tools and equipment in good condition – guards, leads, casing,<br>blades, triggers, handles. Being stored and maintained<br>correctly. Repairs done by Electrician

  • Ramset operators have up-to-date certification

  • Set up and used safely e.g. stable ground, right tool for the<br>job, correct training and PPE

  • Isolating transformer / residual current device in use. Correct<br>electrical boards being used safely

CHEMICALS & FUEL

  • Substances in appropriate containers, labelled and stored<br>safely (security, secondary containment, ventilation)

  • Signage and MSDS’s are present. Relevant staff trained for<br>safe handling and emergencies. Correct type of fire<br>extinguisher<br>

  • Guidelines, procedures and restrictions are followed (incl. all<br>contractors)

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

  • All site staff are compliant with minimum PPE requirements

  • Replacement, visitor and specialist PPE is available when<br>required

CONTRACTORS & OTHER PCBU'S

  • All Contractors have provided H&S documentation and been<br>inducted to site. Verify 3-4 items per inspection e.g: CSC, SWMS

  • All Contractors are attending weekly H&S site meetings

  • Their practices are compliant with site H&S requirements and<br>documents are up to date e.g Lift plans, SWMS, SOPs
