Vessel Boarding

  • Does the Client Rep have a copy of the ERP?

  • Is there a copy of the F10 displayed onboard (where applicable) ?

  • Is there a copy of the RWE Lifesaving rules displayed onboard?

  • Are there approved RAMS available onboard and is there evidence that all individuals concerned have read and understood the latest versions?

  • Are Toolbox Talks being carried out and documented?

  • Has the client Rep been briefed in terms of H&S expectations?

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Is the correct PPE being worn by all personnel onboard, according to the tasks being carried out?

General Housekeeping

  • Is housekeeping maintained to high standard?

First Aid

  • Is there a first aid box available with the sufficient equipment to cope with the number of people onboard?

  • Is there an appointed person to take charge of first aid arrangements?

  • Are there sufficient numbers of appropriately trained first aiders available in relation to the number of people onboard?

  • Is there information available informing people where the first aid box is located and who the first aiders are?

  • Are personnel transferring as isolated teams trained to be self sufficient (enhanced first aid and rescue trained)?

  • If the vessel remains alongside, is there a team onboard who are trained to rescue those who have transferred?

Welfare

  • Are toilet facilities readily available and are they kept clean?

  • Is there sufficient segregation from any eating areas?

  • Are there adequate gender specific facilities?

  • Are there washbasins, hot and cold, (or warm), running water, soap and means of drying?

  • Are washbasins large enough to wash up to the elbows and are there sufficient numbers?

  • Is there somewhere to change, dry and store clothing?

  • Is a supply of portable water readily available?

  • Can everyone that needs to use the facilities access them safely?

Vessel Deck

  • Are there unidentified (not signed or painted) obstructions at body/face height?

  • Are there slip and trip hazards?

  • Is there potential for fall from height?

  • Are there trailing cables?

  • Are there unsecured objects on the deck?

  • Are walkways marked and painted?

  • Are walkways unobstructed?

  • Is there adequate lighting for walkways and working areas?

  • Are muster points clearly identified?

  • Are hazardous machinery i.e. winches guarded and segregated from the immediate work area?

  • Is housekeeping maintained to a high standard?

Emergency Drills

  • Are fire drills carried out and a registered held?

  • Are man overboard (MOB) drills carried out?

  • Are evacuation drills carried out?

  • Are muster drills carried out?

LOLER

  • Is all lifting equipment individually marked and colour coded?

  • Are regular inspections taking place, min 6 months for lifting accessories and 12 months for lifting devices?

  • Are items of lifting equipment in good order?

  • Are damaged items or those out of date quarantined?

Environmental / COSHH

  • Are oil drums and plant/equipment provided with drip trays?

  • Are drip trays free from oil and water?

  • Are spill kits available in case of accidental release?

  • Is waste segregated onboard?

  • Is the waste disposed of correctly in each bin?

Fire

  • Are all persons trained in fire fighting?

  • Are all fire extinguishers stored securely and locations signed?

  • Are all fire extinguishers certified and inspected?

  • Are all emergency fire exits signed?

  • Are emergency routes kept clear?

  • Are all fire exit routes able to be seen in smoke or darkness

  • Are there sufficient fire marshals onboard?

  • Are persons aware of their fire assembly point?

  • Are persons aware of how to raise the fire alarm?

  • Are smoking alarms clearly identified?

  • Is there evidence of smoking outside of the designated areas?

Electrical

  • Has P.A.T testing been completed for all electrical items (spot checks to be carried out)
