Supervisor checklist

  • Full PPE being worn by the attending team ?

  • Ensure that working on or near fragile roofs is avoided and adequate<br>arrangements are put in place to provide a safe place of work.

  • Ensure that the workforce is briefed on the position of any overhead<br>power lines (OHPL) and other high-level hazards.

  • Ensure that rescue procedures are in place, as described in your safe<br>system of work, and are rehearsed.

  • supervise any elements of the task where working at height is<br>required.

  • Monitor all working at height activities, report any previously<br>unidentified hazardous situations and deal with deviations foe the<br>given methods of work, as appropriate.

  • Check the arrangements for scaffolding to be erected, altered and<br>dismantled by suitable qualified and competent person(s).

  • Monitor ground conditions to ensure that they do not deteriorate from<br>those described in your safe system of work. This should also include<br>monitoring the standards of housekeeping.

  • Ensure that the statuary inspection of scaffolds and plant is carried out<br>by a competent person in accordance with the statuary requirements.

  • Monitor interference between trades, activities, members of the public<br>and the public highway and instigate the necessary control measures.<br>

  • Monitor the use of ladders and ensure they are only used as a last<br>resort and in accordance with a risk assessment.<br>

  • Ensure that all fall-arrest equipment is visually inspected prior to each<br>use, at the start of each shift. It should also receive a weekly, detailed<br>inspection and a statuary examinations at least every six months, in<br>accordance with the requirements of the LOLER in lifting equipment<br>used for lifting persons.
