Hydration Management

  • Are you fit for work taking consideration of the factors that influence your hydration? e.g. illness, vomiting, diarrhea or medications<br>

  • Do you have access to potable drinking water (preferably cool)?<br>

  • Have you been drinking enough water to maintain your fluid levels (e.g. hourly)?<br>

  • Have you checked your hydration by using a visual or other test method?<br>

Work Area Management

  • Does your work plan include regular breaks/recovery time out of the heat/cold?

  • Do you have a work plan that is appropriate for the conditions, task, and level of clothing/PPE being worn? e.g. adequate work/recovery plan, working out of direct sunlight/radiant heat, out of wind chill in cold.

  • Have you considered using ventilation, fans, shade sails for heat? or heaters, wind barriers etc. for cold<br>

Competency

  • Do you recognise and know how to respond if signs/symptoms of heat stress/cold stress are observed or felt? E.g. dehydration
