Safety Meetings

Fire Protection / Flammable & Combustibles

  • Fire extinguishers shall be provided for every 3,000 sq/ft of building space, shall not exceed 100ft travel distance.

  • FE shall be located adjacent to stairway in multi-story buildings.

  • Fire extinguisher shall be provided within 50ft of area with greater than 5gal flammables storage.

  • there shall be no more than 25 gallons of flammables stored outside of approved storage cabinets.

  • Fire extinguishers shall be inspected and maintained per NFPA.

  • Solid fuel salamanders are prohibited in buildings and on scaffolds.

  • Fire extinguishers shall be located in areas that welding or cutting is active.

Material Handling / Storage

  • All materials stored in tiers shall be secured to prevent sliding, falling, or collapse.

  • Aisles and passageways shall be kept clear to provide free and safe movement.

  • Brick stacks shall be no more than 7ft in height.

  • Masonry block stacked higher than 6ft shall be tapered back 1/2 block per tier.

Hand and Power Tools

  • Power operated tools designed to have guards shall be equipped with such guards.

  • Power tools shall be grounded (3 prong plug) and / or double insulated.

Welding / Cutting

  • Oxygen cylinders in storage shall be separated from fuel gas cylinders, minimum distance of 20ft or by non-combustible barrier at least 5ft in height and having 1/2 hour fire rating.

  • Fire extinguisher shall be readily available in areas of welding / cutting.

  • Valve protection caps shall be in place when stored.

  • Compressed gas cylinder shall be secured in an upright position.

Electrical

  • Electrical closet shall be controlled by qualified person under lock and key.

  • Electrical cords shall be visually inspected before each days use for external defects.

  • Do all electrical cords have TCI color code taped on the male end?

  • General construction lighting shall be not less than 5FC.

  • All lamps for general illumination shall be protected from accidental contact or breakage.

  • All temp. power outlets shall be supplied with GFCI.

Scaffolds

  • Each platform on all working levels shall be fully planked / decked.

  • Scaffold frames shall bear on base plates and mud sills or other adequate firm foundation.

  • Scaffolds with a height to base width greater than 4-1 shall be restrained from tipping.

  • Debris shall not accumulate on scaffold platforms.

  • Guardrail systems installed shall meet fall protection requirements.

  • Proper access and egress shall be provided.

  • TCI Competent person inspection signature sheet shall be completed daily prior to start of work.

Fall Protection

  • Unprotected sides or edges 6ft or greater shall have a guardrail system.

  • PFAS shall be used when guardrail systems are not feasible at heights 6ft or greater.

  • Warning line systems shall be erected not less than 6ft from the roof edge.

  • Guardrails shall include top rail of 42inches +\- 3, midrail shall be installed midway from top rail to working level, with toe board. Guardrail system shall be capable of withstanding 200 lbs of force.

  • Personal fall arrest system shall be worn and attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift.

  • Holes greater than 2 inches in diameter shall be marked "HOLE" and secured to prevent displacement.

  • Controlled access zones shall be established with physical barriers.

  • Wire cable used as guardrail system shall be flagged at 6ft intervals.

  • Openings lower than 38" shall be guarded.

Cranes and Rigging

  • Cranes shall be inspected / documented on a daily basis by competent person.

  • Cranes shall be inspected monthly and annually per 1926.1412.

Excavations

  • Ladders shall be provided for access / egress within 25ft of any worker.

  • Ladders provided for access / egress in trench/ excavations greater than 4ft?

  • Spoils shall be placed at a minimum of 2ft from the edge.

  • Proper sloping / benching / shoring / boxing shall be provided for any excavations greater than 5ft in depth.

  • Physical barrier shall be provided at the top edge of excavation work.

  • Heavy equipment shall be located a safe distance from the top of excavation.

  • TCI competent person inspection signature sheet shall be completed daily.

Impalement Protection

  • All reinforcing steel onto and into which individuals may fall shall be guarded.

  • Protruding rods, conduit, or similar devices shall be protected against impalement.

Steel Erection

  • Site-specific erection plan shall be developed and submitted by a qualified person, and be available on site.

  • Connectors shall wear necessary fall protection at heights over 15ft and up to 30 ft, with the capability of being tied off.

  • The boundaries of a CDZ shall be designated and clearly marked.

Ladders

  • Extension ladders shall be secured and extended a minimum of 3 ft above landing surface.

  • Ladder and stair access and egress points shall remain clean and free of debris.

  • Ladders shall be maintained in good working condition.

  • A-frame ladders shall be used per manufacturers recommendations.

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Is eye protection being worn at all times by everyone on site?

  • Are hard hats being worn at all times by everyone on site?

  • Are Hi-Viz Reflective vests / shirts being worn at all times by everyone on site?

Pedestrian Protection

  • Is the job site fence installed, inspected, and maintained around the perimeter of the project daily?

  • Are all visitors checking in to field office and signing visitors form with a Timberlake employee present?

  • Are traffic control procedures in place and maintained?

Signage

  • Are signs adequate to protect the public from job hazards?

  • Are exit signs provided and secured throughout the site?

  • Is safety signage posted on perimeter of the fence near gates?

  • Is provided Timberlake Construction Signage Package for site posted?
