Topic - Ladder Safety

  • WELCOME EVERYONE to the RJA TOOLBOX TALK ON LADDER SAFETY

    Falling from a ladder is one of the most common causes of injury in the construction industry - which is why we are discussing them today.

    Did you know 1 person a month dies from a fall from a roof or a ladder
    Did you know 30% of all work fatalities in Australia were from falls from height.
    Did you know 50% of deaths in construction industry are from heights less than 4 metres.

  • When you are using a Ladder on RJA sites you should;

  • 1. Check the area you will be using the ladder for any hazards or risks that may affect you. Like uneven ground, water or high traffic area.

  • 2. Remove any rubbish and debris from around the bottom of the ladder.

  • 3. Make sure you know the emergency response plan if somebody does have a fall. Like where is the First Aid Kit, Emergency Numbers, closest medical care.

  • 4. Do not reach to the sides or lean away when using a ladder.

  • When Choosing your ladder...

  • Check the Label on your ladder - and make sure it is an industrial ladder and is appropriate for the work you are doing.

  • Check to make sure the ladder is well maintained. Don't use the ladder if it has broken feet or rungs.

  • Now we have some Questions for all of you !
