Trolley 1 - Aseptic technique nail surgery pack

  • Equipment required for the procedure is placed on top of trolley?

  • Sterile dressing pack outer packaging is removed and is not contaminated?

  • Dressing pack is opened using only the corners of the paper?

  • Items that are required are carefully placed onto the sterile field ensuring the outer packaging does not come into contact with the sterile field?

  • Sharps bin is attached to the trolley (purple lidded)?

  • Gown sterile gloves placed onto the top of the trolley without contamination?

  • Removes PPE correctly - Gloves ( remove the first glove by holding the cuff and turning it inside out, remove the second glove by inserting fingers inside the wrist of the glove, pull it off whilst turning it inside out). Apron ( undo at the back, pull away from the body and roll inwards away from the body?

  • Hands are decontaminated with liquid soap and water?

  • Administer LA and dispose of sharps safely at the point of use?

  • PPE donned correctly - Don hat, mask, gown and gloves?

  • Gloves are donned touching only the inside wrist end. In a manner that does not contaminate the out surface of the gloves?

  • The foot has been cleaned with Betadine pre-op foot scrub?

  • The procedure is carried out maintaining asepsis throughout?

  • Sharps are disposed of in the sharps container at the end of the procedure?

  • Remove PPE - Gloves ( remove the first glove by holding the cuff and turning it inside out, remove the second glove by inserting fingers inside the wrist of the glove, pull it off whilst turning it inside out). Gown ( inside out, away from you). Face shield. Mask. Cap ( by grabbing the top)?

  • All packaging and waste is disposed of in the appropriate waste stream - tiger / yellow bag?

  • Hands are decontaminated with liquid soap and water?

  • All equipment in the room is decontaminated ready for the next patient?

  • White couch roll is changed on examination couch?

  • Pillow is wiped between patients?

  • Pillow case is changed between patients?
