  • How to use this plant room inspection checklist
     Use this checklist to inspect Plant Rooms and any associated areas.
     Inspections should be carried out on a regular basis to meet the schedule set by the Estates Services team. Where possible, at a time when the plant in the room is operating.
     When you have carried out an inspection, send a copy of the report to the ESHelpdesk.
     A copy of each completed inspection checklist and record of any action taken to correct the faults will then be stored centrally.

  • Was the door to the plant room locked on arrival?

  • Is there adequate signage on the access door to warn persons of the content of the room and the risk of entering?

  • Are all lights working and is the plant room well illuminated?

  • Is there clear access around the plant room?

  • Is the plant room clean and tidy and free from rubbish?

  • Is the plant room free from any materials that may be being stored in the room by contractors or others?

  • Is the room free from any signs of water entering the room or leaking from the plant in the room?

  • Is the plant room free from any evidence of rodent or bird ingress?

  • Is fire safety equipment (call points, signage, extinguishers, detection, fire action notice etc) in place and easily accessible?

  • Does fire stopping appear to be adequate in the room?

  • Are all pumps, plant, machinery free from fault lights or alarms?

  • Is there a log book in the plant room?

  • Is the room free from any visible damage to pipework, lagging, insulation?
