There are restrictions on the movement of materials that can carry electric ants within the electric ant biosecurity zone. If you are removing vegetation or soil from this area it needs to be disposed of at Killaloe waste facility.
- SWMS- Asbestos handling
- SWMS- Confined Spaces
- SWMS- Work at heights over 2 metres
- SWMS- Work with powered mobile plant
- SWMS- Work near Contaminated or Flammable Atmosphere
- SWMS- Excavation or Trenching over 1.5 metres
- SWMS- Work on or adjacent to water
- SWMS- Work near electrical services
- SWMS- Work on or near pressurised Gas Mains
- SWMS- Work on or adjacent to a railway
- SWMS- Work on or adjacent to a road
- SWMS- Working with silica
-
We recommend cleaning down machinery and other equipment before leaving a site within the restricted zone. Completely remove soil and other electric ant carriers from your equipment by: Physically removing the material (e.g. scraping or blowing), Brushing down, Washing down or steam cleaning and or Air blasting with an air compressor.

List all the hazards identified in relation to the particular activity
- Falling Objects: Branches, tools, and other materials can fall from above, posing a risk to those below.
- Additional personal onsite (Contractors)
- Chainsaw operation & tree felling
- Chipper operation
- Tree pruning
- Work site traffic management
- Falling from Heights
- Working near powerlines
- Excavation: below ground services
- Mobile plant: Excavator, skid steer, etc.

Other hazard
-
Controls required to reduce or manage the identified hazards
- Falling Objects: Use of Hard Hats, Establish Drop Zones & keep non-essential personnel clear, Use clear communication to alert workers when objects are intended to fall or be dropped.
- Additional Personnel Onsite (Contractors): Conduct site-specific inductions for all personnel, use clear communication (UHF radio can be used or a whistle in high noise environments).
- Chainsaw Operation & Tree Felling: Operators trained and competent, Use of PPE including Hard hat, gloves, chaps, eye protection, and hearing protection. When felling trees always have an established escape route.
- Chipper Operation: Conduct daily prestart, ensure all operators are trained and competent, use appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and hearing protection. Glove use is recommended.
- Tree Pruning: PPE use - Eye protection, hard hat. designated drop zone for falling debris kept clear when cutting branches.
- Worksite Traffic Management: Use of signage, barriers, and cones to delineate work zones, workers trained and competent, wear high-visibility clothing, if a job can't be done safely STOP and reschedule with external traffic control.
- Falling from Heights: Use of fall protection systems, use of safety observer in the event of an incident.
- Working Near Powerlines: Maintain safe working distances, if unsure STOP and contact supervisor.
- Excavation (Below Ground Services): Conduct a Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) inquiry, Use of non-destructive digging methods to locate services.
- Mobile Plant (Excavator, Skid Steer, etc): Conduct site-specific inductions for all personnel, use clear communication (UHF radio can be used or a whistle in high noise environments), maintain safe distance from machine clear of operating reach so you cannot be struck my machine or vegetation being moved by machine.
