  • 1. Start card complete, permits and plans checked for validity.

  • 2. Permit to Work activated with QUU

  • 3. Pre-work photos taken – to capture the overall site condition and inside the Hydrant

  • 4. Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) has been conducted and valid. Marking and exposing underground services are conducted.

  • HPR No.1: If high risk services, HV, high pressure gas are found then stop and call Supervisor.

  • DO NOT continue until supervisor contacted and direction is given.

  • 5. To inspect existing fitting condition - Only if the existing condition is found to be poor, then GO TO Step 8 and 9, and continue the subsequent steps.

  • 6. Excavate Fire Hydrant, photos of excavation taken – to capture the process of excavation and after excavation,

  • 7. Pre-work carried out on Hydrant – removal any parts or cleaning around the Hydrant

  • 8. Call QUU to confirm Isolation

  • 9. Main has been isolated as per QUU approved Shut Plan

  • HPR No. 2: Ensure main is depressurised.

  • DO NOT continue until main depressurised. If you are unable to depressurise the main, call your supervisor and await direction.

  • 10. Work performed on Hydrant as per Audit Form in ESRI.

  • 11. Fittings installation checked – The nuts are torque correctly, rubber is seated in the right position.

  • 12. Water is restored as per QUU approved Shut Plan

  • 13. Main is flushed of air and contaminants

  • HPR No.3: Check Hydrant for leaks or defects

  • DO NOT continue until hydrant is checked. If there is a leak, contact your supervisor and await direction.

  • 15. Hydrant backfilled and reset as per SEQ-WAT-1302-1

  • 14. QUU is informed that water restored

  • 16. Compacted and restored to satisfactory standard

  • 17. Hydrant lid painted and cats eye installed

  • 18. Post work photos taken – to capture inside the Hydrant and overall site restoration

  • 19. Site is packed up and left safe and tidy

  • 20. Permit to Work closed – Call QUU
