General Alarm and Public Address Systems

  • Alert crew prior to conducting the test through use of your UHF radio.

    When testing the general alarm, use the actualy alarm button on the bridge console and not the test button.
    Test all areas of the public address system.

    Alternate each location every week, ensuring each location gets one test every 4 weeks.

  • Please conduct these checks thoroughly and report any findings to the Ship's Safety Officer. If you are unsure of how to complete an inspection you must ask for assistance.

Life Rafts and Hydrostatic Release Units

  • Visual inspection of the liferafts
    Verify cases are intact with plastic lashings, verify the HRUs are correctly rigged with painter lines attached to the weak link and that the information tubes are present. Ensure they are ready for immediate use.

  • Observation deck aft life rafts and hydrostatic release units have been checked, are in good condition and ready for use?

  • 4 x Messenger lines present

  • 1 x Knife is present

  • 1 x Screw driver is present

  • 1 x Threaded key is present

  • 1 x Hatch key is present

Rescue Boat

  • Rescue boat shall be visually inspected to ensure that it is ready for use. Engineering will conduct weekly engine test and crane inspection.

  • Port side rescue boat is ready for immediate use and shows no signs of damage?

  • Starboard side rescue boat is ready for immediate use and show no signs of damage?

  • Rescue boat hook has been inspected, grub screws present, safety pin correctly secured?

  • Sponsons are adequately inflated?

  • Lifting bridle is correctly rigged and securely attached with no signs of corrosion or damage?

  • Lifting Pad eyes are secure with no signs of corrosion or damage and bolts have been tensioned.

  • Fuel tank is full?

  • Kill cord is present?

  • Rescue boat safety kit contents checked and all equipment is accounted for?

  • Fresh battery installed in crane controller and the old battery returned to the battery charger?

Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and Fire Fighting Equipment

  • Ensure equipment is clean, in good condition, packed correctly, easy to access and correctly labelled.

  • Each bag must have the following: boots, trousers, jacket, smoke hood, gloves, axe, safety line, helmet, BA board tag, SCBA kit, harness/regulator, bottle and mask

  • Ensure all 4 torches are on charge and check for 2 spare air cylinders per locker.

  • 1 axe and 1 halogen tool should be present in each locker

  • Have the UHF Radios been tested and found to be functioning correctly, fully charged and tested together with a headset? (Please change out any batteries that are not fully charged from the bridge).

  • BA Control board Operational, Clock Working and writing tool there?

  • Examine all breathing apparatus and cylinders to confirm they are in the correct pressure range. (270 - 300 Bar)

  • Main deck Aft Safety Locker Cylinder 1:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Main deck Aft Safety Locker Cylinder 2:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Main deck Aft Safety Locker Cylinder 3:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Main deck Aft Safety Locker Cylinder 4:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Were the main deck aft SCBA sets found to be in good working order and cylinders within the acceptable pressure range?

  • Owners deck Safety Locker Cylinder 1:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Owners deck Forward Safety Locker Cylinder 2:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Owners deck Safety Locker Cylinder 3:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Owners deck Safety Locker Cylinder 4:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Were the owners deck forward SCBA sets found to be in good working order and cylinders within the acceptable pressure range?

  • Check the following:
    - The Enclosed Space SCBA set bottle checks remain the same as with the firefighting kits. Please check the condition of the hose and mask.

  • Forward Technical Space Cylinder 1:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Forward Technical Space Cylinder 2:

  • This cylinder must be refilled! Speak with the Safety Officer.

  • Were the enclosed space SCBA sets found to be in good working order and cylinders within the acceptable pressure range?

Emergency Escape Breathing Devices

  • Verify all EEBDs are correctly stowed in their cases, that they have no signs of damage, that they are indicating the correct pressure range (green area).

  • 1 EEBD located in Fwd fresh water tech space on tank deck were present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD located outside the cool and freeze room were present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD located in the port side forward tank deck engine room were present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD located in the starboard side tank deck engine room were present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD located in the port side forward workshop were present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD located in crew corridor aft by galley window was present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD located in the switch board room was present and ready for use?

  • 1 EEBD spare located in the bosun store were present and ready for use

  • Check all emergency escapes are clear of obstructions and ready for use.

  • Mooring deck up to bridge fwd

  • Lower deck fwd chain locker up to mooring deck

  • Tank deck fresh water tech space up to crew corridor between crew cabin 3 & 4

  • Tank deck AC 13 up to crew corridor between crew cabin 7 & 8

  • Tank deck corridor next to laundry up to crew corridor by crew mess

  • Tank deck corridor cool and freeze room up to crew corridor aft

  • Tank deck engine room port forward up to lower deck silencer room

  • Tank deck workshop up to tender garage escape

  • Tank deck stern thruster compartment up to water sports corridor fwd

Lithium Ion Batteries

  • Weekly inspection of Lithium-Ion batteries. Check for swollen, distorted or misshaped battery. Make sure the battery is in a well ventilated area, that there is no colour change in its casing and that it is not warm or hot to the touch.

  • Battery Compartment - Lift e-foil board batteries

  • Battery Compartment - Radin board batteries

  • Fwd Tech Space - Guest beach set up battery
