All student's door and any door on an egress corridor must close and positive latch on its own. No door can be held open by any devices that will not release the door when the fire alarm is activated.
All entrances/ exit doors to egress hallways are fully operational and bear the appropriate fire rating. Frame and door should have a fire rating tag. No holes or breakage in the door.
All fire egress maps include:
(A) Primary and secondary escape routes.
(B) " You are Here " marking.
(C) Location of pull stations and fire extinguishers along primary and secondary escape routes.
All panic bars are in good condition and operational.
All emergency lights are in good condition and operational.
All exit lights are operational and show proper directional arrows when appropriate.
All ceiling tile are in place and and do not have a hole or crack greater than 1/8th".
All electrical panels have a 3 foot entry way to panel. All panel doors close and lock.
Permanent electrical circuits are utilized rather than extension cords.
Area is free of missing ceiling tiles, floor, or wall.
Walking surfaces are free of tears, bumps, sags in the carpet, or other tripping hazards.
Area is free of broken/cracked glass in doors or windows.
Materials are safely stacked and not within 18" vertically or 36" horizontally or a sprinkler head.
Area is free of missing lens cover on ceiling /overhead study lights.
Area is free of cracks in the sidewalk in excess of 1/4"
Dryer vents are clean.
Area is free of water/liquid on floors.
All egress light fixtures are operational.
All exterior light fixtures are operational. (Security)
Cleaning materials are safely stored , not in student rooms, or left unattended in public areas.
All flammable and hazardous materials as properly stored. When not in use. (Flammable and hazardous materials cabinets are closed at all times)
All flammable and hazardous cabinets are vented to outside.
All janitor, elevator, and mechanical room doors are closed and locked.
All GFCI receptacles are operational.
Electrical panels are labeled appropriately.
Electrical panel knockouts are in place.
Light bulbs protected from breakage.
Grinders (portable and stationary) have guards in place
SDS openly available to all employees .
Foot protection worn as required (steel toed or slip resistant closed toe)
Carbon Monoxide detectors are operational.
Weight equipment is inspected to ensure is safe for use.
Safety components of the weight equipment is present and functional.
All individuals using weight equipment have received training on each piece that they are using.
Team sports are supervised.
All users of the gym/weight room are wearing equipment for the sport in which they are engaged. If not they are not allowed to participate until corrective action has been taken by the individual.
When appropriate weight lifters have spotters.
Equipment used for any sport has been inspected prior to issuance. It is appropriate for the sport, clean, and in proper condition for safe use in the sport.
Individuals using the recreational facilities are cautioned when inappropriate behavior is observed.
Walking surfaces are free of obstruction, slips, trips, and fall hazards.
SDS Log available and complete.
Floors/walls, ceiling, room orderly and good repair, doors close completely, no hold open devices.
Area is free from of evidence of vermin.
Electrical plug, breaker boxes unblocked, labeled, and cover secured.
Pool tables and other recreational equipment in good repair.
Extinguishers charged, adequate exits, exits accessible, exit signs and emergency lighting appropriate.
Alarm systems operative and escape route posted.
Restrooms clean/good repair/GFCI operational.
Hazardous and flammable material properly stored.
3 Foot area front of breaker box is clear and breakers are properly marked.
