General

  • Work place (office and shop floor) displays good house keeping

  • Access to fire extinguishing equipment

  • Access to first aid station

  • Welfare facilities - cleaning products, maintained, etc

  • Kitchen area and appliances in good working order

  • FLT Charging stations clear of fire loads

  • Environmental Waste separation done according to regulations

  • Visual and functional checks of manual handling aids (trolley, stacker, pallet truck etc.)

  • Forklift inspection sheet completed by operator

  • Visual check - Security panel and Fire alarm panel functional

Racking and storage

  • Visual check of racking for damage or defects from ground level

  • Visual inspection - Correct storage of any hazardous material and chemicals

  • Maximum shelf and bay loads respected and maintained?

  • Materials not protruding from shelves?

  • Safety information present (weight loads / warning signs / zones)

  • Stock items properly secured against rolling away, tipping over or falling down?

  • Sufficient space for storage of material and working area

  • Restricted areas securely locked -

Any defects identified during the weekly safety walk must be notified to the directors

Machines

  • Machinery visually free from Defects, Leaks, spillages

  • Area around machine is clean and tidy

  • Are all maintenance schedules up to date

  • Have any defects been raised to line manager
