General

  • The purpose of the review is to demonstrate that there is adequate control of health and safety for all Village Hall users and activities, through a common sense approach in partnership with Hall users.

    To engage and consult with Hall user on a regular basis with regards to all Health & Safety aspects of the village Hall and where necessary ensure any legal obligation required by users are met by these specific Village Hall users.

    Daisy chain pre-school is an OFSTED regulated playgroup charity, and is the main Hall user, as such has to carry out a daily risk assessment of the Hall.

  • Has the Village Hall plan been reviewed to ensure that it is current and relevant?

Hall users

  • Hall users are to notify the H&S Representative of Village Hall Committee, if they have any concerns with regards to any aspects of Hall safety.

  • Are there procedures in place for reporting any H&S concerns?

  • Do Hall users know how to report an incident?

  • Is there an emergency exit plan?

Car Park

  • Is the car park surfaces well maintained?

  • Are vehicle and pedestrian routes/flows and car park and site entrance/exits clearly marked?

  • Is the car park well lit?

  • Can emergency vehicles gain access?

Electrical Review

  • Is all the wiring in good working condition and free of recent defects

  • Is adequate lighting provided for all types of Hall use

  • Are any extension leads in use long term?

  • Is there at least 35 inches of clearance between electrical panels and other objects.

Fire safety

  • Is emergency lighting working properly (Fire running man above all exits)

  • Are non evacuation doors marked "not an exit"

  • Is there a centralised alarm system for the Village Hall

  • Is there a sprinkler system?

  • Does the Village Hall have a fire / smoke / heat detectors?

  • When were the fire extinguishers last checked

  • When next are the Fire extinguishers due to be inspected.

  • Are the fire extinguishers visible and accessible?

  • Are the fire doors kept closed?

  • Are the fire doors covered with less than 33% combustible materials?

  • Do water heaters and other heat producing devices have three foot clearance from combustible materials?

  • Is smoking prohibited on the propery?

Building Condition

  • The general up keep of the building is adequate?

  • Is the floor free of trip hazards or dangerous condition?

  • Are all rugs and mats secured from slipping?

  • Is equipment clean and in good working order?

  • Are all external walkways maintained and in good working order?

  • Are all storage and work areas kept in an orderly fashion?

  • Are items secured from falling?<br>

  • Is there adequate ventilation provided to remove excess heat and gasses?

  • Are all guards and safety devices in place?<br>

Housekeeping

  • Is the general housekeeping of the Village Hall adequate?<br>
