Exchange – DWDM Transmission Equipment

Exchange – Fibre Entry Into Exchange Rack

  • Fibres are guided into rack with a suitable drop off and duct/tube as per RL

  • OEF located as per RL

  • Fibre entry ducting not overfilled

  • Fibre supported and secure

  • Fibre not run over or pressed against sharp edge

  • Take a picture showing fibre management into the rack is suitable and that the location of OEF is correct as per RL – include rack LIS label in image.

Exchange - Fibre Labelling

  • Brady label used is correctly wrapped and not flagged

  • Label is printed, not hand written

  • Equipment end label shows LIS of card or SFP

  • OFDF end label shows sheath code of CAN / IEN / Tie cable and particular fibre

  • Refer: SP000511, TM00367, TM00044, TM00183

  • Take close shot showing the fibre label - need to be able to read text on label and see type of label used. Show fibre at the equipment and patch end (if applicable).

Customer - Fibre Termination Unit

  • LIS label is fitted

  • No visible damage

  • Keys removed

  • Tag on fibre sheath that shows code

  • Fibres into/out of suitably protected (flex conduit etc.), routed with regard to MBR

  • Internal fibre routing correct, MBR observed

  • Correct coloured thru connectors used

  • Velcro or guides used to secure fibre patch cords

  • Should be able to see if labels are fitted but may not be able to read text of labels. Close up shot showing the fibres inside.

Customer - Cabinet/Rack Exterior

  • GPO/PDU has at least one spare outlet

  • Earth cable into bonding terminal

  • Cables routed correctly

  • AC powered equipment cables labelled, (Rectifier at GPO end only)

  • AC powered Ciena, Black cables for A Plane & Blue cables for B Plane

Customer - Cabinet/Rack Interior Rectifier and Alarms

Customer - Fibre SDP

  • Sufficient ties provided- Telstra cabinet to Demarcation / SDP

  • Sequential Pigtail/Splice numbering and or use of patches identifiable at back of thru-connect

  • Separate SDP Patch/OFTUs for Diverse Path services

  • Labels fitted to SDP Patch/OFTU and correctly formatted
