• Are the mirrors correctly adjusted?

If no, please explain why this is important and make an appointment for a follow up. It is very important that the cabin windows are clean and that you have an open view in all directions. The same goes for the mirrors; if they are not clean you rear and side view is not only bad but a dirty mirror also reflects the light in a nasty way. Filling up the cabin window has led to accidents before, as well as to a conviction or community service, as happened to a driver who overran a child and might have noticed it but for a filled up front window. It was not a Van den Bosch driver, but you would not want it happening to you!

Action could be:
- E-learning Risk Assessments
- E-learning BBS
- E-learning Safety Driver
- MasterClass BBS (Academy)
- Driver Manual update chapter H03.03 General Safety
- Driver Manual update chapter H05.01 Conduct on the road and Damage Prevention

 • Is the driver representative? Clothes (arms and legs covered), hair, smell / odor.

If no, please explain why this is important and make an appointment for a follow up. The company expects every driver to remember he or she is representing the company when at work and to dress accordingly. This is important for safety reasons and food safety reasons as well. Below you will find the attention points for each driver as well as those that matter for drivers active in food and/or pet food transports especially. This is a minimum Van den Bosch requirement for every driver and various spot checks are carried out throughout the organisation to check compliance.

General points of attention:
- Washing your hands with soap is mandatory before starting work, after breaks, after toilet use and whenever necessary for a hygienic way of working.
- Smoking, and eating or drinking in the operational areas as well as in the loading and unloading areas are not allowed. This is only allowed in the company restaurant. It is also not allowed to bring smoking materials, food or drinks to the operational areas.
- Clothing: Representative clothing can mean different things. It may be overalls issued for specific work. If the work does not require overalls, the clothing may consist of jeans or similar pants with a T-shirt/shirt/sweater/jacket. Please always make sure arms can be covered with regard to food safety. Dirty or torn clothing, shorts or trainers are never allowed.
- To increase safety, it is important to always wear a Hi Vis jacket. It makes sure that you are clearly visible to others. Also a helmet increases your safety and so do safety shoes, protective glasses, gloves and perhaps a safety harness. For details please see the specific personal protective equipment training in E-learning.

Specific attention regarding food safety:
- Preferably overalls and work coats without outside pockets to prevent contamination. Pockets are closed during work to prevent contamination of tanks. It is not allowed to wear jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, watches or visible piercings) during work.
- Broken glass, vermin or their excrements will be reported to the Planning Department immediately.
- Hairs are covered with a hairnet underneath the helmet.
- Covering both arms and legs is mandatory in food and/or pet food transport.
- For injuries that need a plaster, a blue plaster is required at all times. Blue plasters are metal detectable and also easily visible in a product.
- A beard and/or moustache always need to be covered by a beard net.

Action could be:
- E-learning Food- and Feedsafety
- E-learning Communication
- MasterClass Van den Bosch Driver (Academy)
- Driver Manual update chapter H03.04 Quality and Quality Standards
