  • About this assessment tool.
    This assessment tool is designed to be used by an assessor to facilitate assessment discussions and the gathering of workplace competency evidence. The user may need to seek third party permission for the use of photos for assessment purposes.
    This tool may be printed and given to the student in advance of the assessment being completed.

3. Apply Workplace Emergency Procedures

4. Interpret First Aid Facilities

  • There are appropriate first aid and emergency facilities in the near vicinity and the student is aware of them.

  • Student can verify Kits are clearly signed, stocked and contents are in-date.

  • Student identifies where Names and contacts of first aiders are displayed and confirms it is up to date.

  • Assessor: has the student demonstrated a sound understanding of applying workplace first aid procedures?

5. Apply risk and hazard identification instructions and processes.

  • Where applicable student applies available manual handling Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Student applies workplace risk assessment procedures.

  • Student applies hazard identification processes according to workplace procedures.

  • Photo of completed risk assessment and/or hazard identification records as completed by student.

  • Assessor: The student satisfactorily demonstrated a sound understanding of the workplace requirements in hazard identification and risk assessment.

6. Apply Electrical Safety

  • Student confirms they are inducted and trained in Electrical Safety and are following applicable SOPs. (Safe Operating Procedures).

  • Student can identify different lock out and tag out tags according to workplace procedures.

  • Photo of tag correctly identified by student.

  • Assessor: The student correctly applied the workplace electrical safety procedures.

7. Apply Chemical Safety Procedures

  • Student confirms they are inducted and trained in Chemical Handling and are following applicable SOPs (Safe Operating Procedures).

  • Student can locate chemical safety sheet (MSDS) (not older older than 5 years) as relevant to role.

  • Student can locate an up to date easy to find and read list/register summary of all chemicals used at the workplace.

  • Student can correctly explain various chemical signage.

  • Photos of signage

  • Assessor's summary of explanations as given by student.

  • Assessor: The student satisfactorily demonstrated a sound understanding of applying chemical safety in the workplace.

8. Apply Noise Control Protection

  • Student has received information and training in relation to noise at the workplace.

  • Student accesses appropriate noise protection equipment and consumables to maintain personal safety.

  • Assessor: The student satisfactorily follows workplace noise protection controls.

9. Apply Environmental Controls
