Pushback audit section

  • Is all Pushback equipment serviceable including the ground to air radio fitted in the tug. Does the tug have a copy of the Manchester Airport pushback procedures & latest maps?<br>Is the aircraft tug free of FOD?

  • Where applicable has the bypass pin/or aircraft towing switch been enabled?

  • Is the towbar connected to aircraft and then connected to the aircraft tug safely, employing correct manual handling procedures?

  • Is all equipment removed using a banks person?

  • Are cones removed after all ground servicing equipment including 3rd party equipment?

  • Is an aircraft pre-departure check carried out correctly, as well as FOD checks & chocks removal?

  • Any misunderstanding of any ATC instructions tug driver to contact ATC to confirm correct pushback procedures?

  • Is a wingman/road person deployed to halt traffic on back of stands where a road system is applicable?

  • Is the road person kept in eye contact with the headset operator, both operating on the same side of the aircraft?

  • ASU/GPU where applicable is the airstart/ground power unit connected and disconnected for engine start up on stand using correct signalling procedures; then moved to a safe distance prior to pushback?

  • Correct signalling used for the commencement to the Pushback?

  • Pushback speed kept to a controlled walking pace?

  • On completion of the pushback are the correct hand signals used?<br>Is the pushback and towbar disconnection correct? <br>Was a chock placed in front of the nose wheel prior to disconnection? <br>Was the tug completely clear of the aircraft before the clear to taxy signal given with (bypass pin remove before flight flag) where applicable?

Aircraft towing procedures

  • Aircraft towing procedures (Brakes release) (Stand number) does the tug driver relay back correctly the ATC permissions for pushback and tow?

  • Aircraft towing tug driver does not cross any RED Stop Bars unless instructed to do so by ATC?

  • Aircraft Towing Does the tug driver on completion of the tow contact ATC to confirm tug number completion of tow onto stand number?

  • Aircraft towing further brakes on signal to brake rider, aircraft chocked and coned as standard operating procedures?
