Manual Handling

- Have control measures been put in place an dmaintaed to eliminate or reduce the risks associated with hazardous manual tasks as far as possible
- Have equipment, layout and work organisation been considered to minimise the risk of injury from performing manual tasks?
- Has it been ensured that items that are heavy or frequently accessed are not placed above shoulder heiight or below mid-thigh height
- Is adequate space provided for areas where manual taks are performed
- Are jobs/taks organised so that workers have adequate breaks from sustained postures, repetitively movement and manual handling

Cafe
- Heavy or frequently used items are easily accessible - eg. not on top shelves
- Access to shelves, fridges etc. is not obstructed
- Store rooms are organised to reduce risks eg. heavier items stored at waist height or bottom (as appropriate), lighter and infrequently used items stored at top shelves
- Work benches, dishwashers and other work surfaces are at good height to reduce poot posture
- A risk assessment in relation to manual handling has been conducted where manual tasks have been identified eg. where chairs and tables are moved at night or for cleaning
- Where practical, trolleys are available and used where tables and chairs are moved
- Procedures are in place in relation to aggression, cash handling and hold-ups (inlcudine post hold-up)
