Section 1 Fire & Emergency Preparedness

  • Extinguishers are in place, clearly marked for type of fire and recently serviced. <br>

  • Adequate Directional signs/notices for fire exits and highly visible <br>

  • Emergency Exit doors are easily opened from inside at all hours <br>

Section 2 Electrical Safety

Section 4 Walkways

  • All walkways (entry & cross) kept clear <br>

  • No electrical leads crossing walkways <br>

  • Walkways adequately lit and clearly marked <br>

  • Stairs/Risers in good condition (if present) <br>

  • Even surfaces; no cracks or holes or lifted carpet <br>

Section 5 Rubbish

  • Bins located at suitable points around the workplace <br>

  • All bins emptied regularly <br>

Section 6 Storage

  • Materials are stored in racks and bins wherever possible <br>

  • Storage designed to minimise lifting problems e.g. between knee & shoulder <br>

  • Floor area around racking clear of rubbish <br>

  • General condition of racks and pallets <br>

Section 8 Workbenches

  • Bench surfaces are clear of rubbish. <br>

  • Bench working height correct <br>

  • No exposed sharp edges to bench or equipment <br>

Section 9 Chemicals on Site

  • All storage containers clearly, correctly labelled <br>

Section 10 First Aid

  • Have adequate number of people been trained in first aid, having regard to the types of hazards and number of people at the workplace <br>

  • Is an adequately stocked First Aid cabinet/kit provided at a central location? <br>

  • Is the First Aid cabinet/kit regularly inspected to ensure adequate supplies are present? <br>

  • First Aid cabinets/kits and contents are clean and orderly <br>

  • Easy access to cabinets/kits <br>

  • Employees are aware of location of first aid cabinet/kit <br>

  • First aid cabinet is clearly labelled <br>

  • Emergency numbers are displayed <br>

Section 11 Office and Amenities

  • Stable non-slip floor coverings <br>

  • Toilets are clean and tidy, hand wash soap and towels are available <br>

  • Ergonomic Assessment/Training <br>

Section 12 Manual Handling

  • Have tasks/jobs been identified that may cause injury or harm?

  • Have control measures been put in place and maintained to eliminate or reduce the risks associated with hazardous manual tasks as far as possible

  • Have people involved in organising, implementing and performing manual tasks been provided with adequate instruction and training

  • Have equipment, layout and work organisation been considered to minimise the risk of injury from performing manual tasks?

  • Has it been ensured that items that are heavy or frequently accessed are not placed above shoulder height or below mid-thigh height

  • Is adequate space provided for areas where manual tasks are performed

  • Are jobs and tasks organised so that workers have adequate breaks from sustained postures, repetitive movement and manual handling
