Section 3 Electrical Safety

  • Test run 12V system for 2 hours (battery maintenance)

  • Check all 12V emergency lighting

Section 4 General Lighting

  • All work areas have adequate illumination <br>

  • Good natural lighting is available <br>

  • No direct or reflected glare <br>

  • Lighting fitting are clean and in good condition <br>

  • Emergency lighting (if fitted) is operable. <br>

Section 5 Walkways

  • All walkways (entry & cross) kept clear <br>

  • Walkways adequately lit and clearly marked <br>

  • Stairs/Risers in good condition (if present) <br>

  • Even surfaces; no cracks or holes <br>

Section 6 Rubbish

  • Bins located at suitable points around the workplace <br>

  • All bins emptied regularly <br>

Section 7 Storage

  • Materials stored in racks and bins wherever possible <br>

  • Storage designed to minimise lifting problems e.g. between knee & shoulder <br>

Section 8 Chemicals on Site

  • Hazardous substances register available on site <br>

  • Current MSDS available for each chemical <br>

  • All storage containers clearly, correctly labelled <br>

  • Do any special storage conditions apply? <br>

Section 9 First Aid

  • Is an adequately stocked First Aid cabinet/kit provided at a central location

  • Is the First Aid cabinet/kit regularly inspected to ensure adequate supplies are present

  • Contents of the First Aid cabinet/kit are clean and orderley <br>

  • Access to the First Aid cabinet/kit is easily accessible

  • Employees aware of location of first aid cabinet/kit <br>

  • First aid cabinet/kit is clearly labelled <br>

  • Emergency contact numbers are displayed on or near the First Aid cabinet/kit<br>

Section 10 Workbenches

  • Bench surfaces are clean of rubbish

  • All tools not in use are stored correctly

  • All damaged hand tools are tagged out for either repair/disposal

  • All damaged power tools are tagged out for either repair/disposal

  • Bench working height is correct

  • No exposed sharp edges to bench or equipment

Section 11 Machinery

  • Is maintenance up to date

  • If applicable, are seatbelts fitted and functional

  • Daily pre-start checks are completed

  • I applicable , log book completed as per manufacturers' instruction

Safety Inspection Sign Off

  • The Officer completing this Safety Inspection must ensure that the final report is sent through to Safety Service for recording of Hazards and required Follow up Actions and the Department Supervisor has been notified of the Inspection outcome.

  • The Area Safety Representative accepts the findings of this Workplace Inspection and shall ensure that any corrective action/s identified during this Inspection shall be actioned immediately.
