General Mall

  • Carpeted Areas Are carpeted areas clean? Inspect any carpeted floor areas in the assessment zone. Carpeted areas include mats underneath seating pods or mall furniture. Answer YES if: the carpet has no more than 3 of the following: a) Papers, wrappers (2 wrappers = 1 piece of litter), plastic / paper bags, drink bottles or cups b) Liquid spills (drinks, water etc) c) Dry spills (fries, gum, lollies etc) d) Dust / fluff balls greater than 1cm x 1cm e) Any other form of rubbish greater than 10cm x 10cm.

  • Advertising Signage, Frames, Pictures, Directory Boards & ATMÕs Are directional signage, advertising signage, directory boards, payphones and ATM's clean? This includes any fixed glass advertising panels, free standing store directories and electronic directories on the level you assess.   • Mall Furniture Are coffee tables and seats within the seating areas clean and well presented? Inspect all mall furniture in the assessment zone. This includes seating pods or individual tables and chairs but excludes retailer furniture. Note that rugs are assessed under 'carpeted areas'. Answer YES if: each seating areas has no more than 3 of the following (in total): a) Papers, wrappers (2 wrappers = 1 piece of litter), plastic / paper bags, drink bottles or cups b) Liquid spills (drinks, water etc) c) Dry spills (fries, gum, lollies etc) d) Visible dust or dirt build up in corners or seams e) Stains or discolouration larger than 3cm in diameter f) Furniture is well presented i.e. furniture is placed neatly and proportionately in the specified area, e.g. on a rug.

  • Mall Floor (Terrazzo, Tiles, Wood Inlays, Marble) Is the floor clean? Inspect the cleanliness of the floor in the assessment zone (floor area the length of 20 stores). Answer YES if: throughout the assessment zone there are no more than 3 pieces of litter or spills including: a) Litter larger than 10cm x 10cm b) Liquid spills (drinks, water etc) c) Dry spills (fries, lollies etc) PLUS d) Skirting boards are free of dust or grime build-up and a build-up of floor polish e) The floor display a high lustre finish.

  • Balustrades Are the balustrades clean? Inspect the balustrades in the assessment zone (floor area the length of 20 stores), including glass, metal/wrought iron, timber and combination balustrades. Answer YES if: all balustrades observed were: a) Free from scale, mould or mildew b) Free from cleaning product build up c) Free from smears, splashes or stains larger than 5cm d) Free from more than 1 handprint per panel e) Free from cobwebs, dead insects, dust or dirt build up f) Free from visible dust build-up on ledges covering more that 10% of the ledge.

  • Lights / Wall Lights / Air Conditioning Registers Are the ceiling lights, wall lights and air conditioning registers clean? Examine all lights and air conditioning registers in the assessment zone (floor area the length of 20 stores). Answer YES if: If lights and registers were: a) Free from dust, dirt or grime build up greater than 1mm b) Free from cobwebs or dead insects.

Escalators, Travelators, Lifts & Staircases

  • Are all lifts, escalators and travelators clean? Examine all lifts, escalators and travelators in the assessment zone. (Assess all transport types in the assessment zone and if not available seek at least 1 type in the centre). Answer YES if: all lifts, escalators and travelators observed were clean and meet the standard. Note: This does not include service lifts. a) All tracks/steps are free from a build-up of dirt, dust or spills. A build up is considered dust or grime that is highly visible, i.e. not a light covering b) All handrails/safety rails are free from sticky substances or dust c) Lift floors and walls are free from rubbish or dirt d) Glass is free from more than 2 handprints or smears greater than 10 cm and is visibly clear e) Side panels (e.g. stainless steel) are free from more than 2 smears greater that 10cm with no visible dust build-up f) Floor plates top and bottom of the escalators and travelators are free of a build-up of grime, dust and dirt, general waste and spills g) Door tracks are free from a build-up of dirt, dust and grime.

  • Rubbish Bins Are the rubbish bins clean well presented? Examine 4 bins in the assessment zone. Answer YES if: a) Bins were not overflowing b) The outside of bin is not stained or marked with more than 2 dirty marks or smears greater than 5 cm c) The bins had a bin liner in place d) There is no offensive odours emanating from the bins e) The bin has less than 10% build-up of visible dust or grime on the base, sides or top

  • Playworld Is the Playworld / play town clean and free from rubbish? Please examine the Playworld in the assessment zone. Answer YES if: the Playworld you visited is free from more than 3 of the following: a) Papers, plastic bags, paper bags, drink bottles or cups b) Liquid spills (drinks, water, etc) c) Dry spills (crumbs, sultanas, crackers, etc) d) Food scraps or wrappers (10cm x 10cm food scraps = 1 piece of litter, 2 wrappers = 1 piece of litter). e) Dust, grime or dirt build up on the play surfaces and in corners and/or between vinyl netting f) Any other form of rubbish.

  • Mobility Hire Equipment Were the kiddie carts, mobile shoppers and other equipment clean? Examine the mobility equipment in the assessment zone. Answer YES if: Each piece of equipment is: a) Free from more that 2 marks or smears greater than 5 cm b) Free from crumbs or rubbish in the basket c) Free from a visible build-up of dust

  • Concierge Desk Is the concierge desk clean? Inspect a Concierge Desk during your visit. If there is not a Concierge Desk on the level you assess, please inspect a Concierge Desk on another level. Answer YES if; the Concierge Desk is: a) Free of visible dust and dirt b) Free from more than 1 smear greater than 5cm c) Free from graffiti d) Well polished

  • Pot Plants Are the pot plants clean? Examine 4 pot plants in the assessment zone. Answer YES if: all Pot Plants are: a) Free from papers, receipts or wrappers b) Free from gum or cigarette butts c) Free from food scraps, bottles or other litter d) Free from smears, dust or dirt on the pot

Restrooms

  • Floors Are the floors clean? Inspect the floor surface in the restroom. This includes the floor in the general area and unattended cubicles. This includes skirting tiles and floor edges. Answer YES if: the floor surface is; a) Free from a build up of dirt, dust or grime, including in corners. A build up is considered debris greater than 1mm thick c) Free from scuffs or smears longer than 15cm d) Free from discolouration or stains measuring more than 15cm in diameter e) Free from puddles of water greater than 15cm in diameter f) More than 15% of grouting free from discolouration or staining; and g) There are less than 4 pieces of paper or rubbish larger than 10cm x 10cm

  • Microwave/Bottle Warmer Is the microwave/bottle warmer clean? Answer YES if: the microwave is a) Free from food spills, splatters, crumbs or smears inside b) Free from food spills, splatters or smears on the outside c) Free from milk stains and odour.

  • Parents Room and Play Area Is the play area tidy and free from rubbish? Inspect the children's play area Answer YES if: the children's play area was clean & tidy, including: a) No more than 3 pieces of paper or rubbish (larger than 10cm x 10cm) on the floor of the play area b) Children's amusement devices free from smears and marks greater than 3cm in length c) Glass fencing free from no more than 2 handprints or 2 smears greater than 3 cm in length.

  • Sanitary Bins Are the sanitary bins clean and well presented? Inspect any sanitary bins in the unattended cubicles (where provided). Answer YES if: all sanitary bins are: a) Free from scale, mould or mildew b) Free from dust, dirt or spills c) Free from unpleasant odours d) No biological waste on the outside of the unit.

Perimeter

  • Public Footpath & Stairs Are the public footpaths & stairs clean? Inspect footpaths and stairs in the assessment zone. As a guide assess pedestrian walkways within 2 metres of the shopping centre building (excluding customer entrances). Answer YES if: all footpaths and stairs: a) Have less than 3 pieces of litter greater than 10cm x 10cm in each 10sq meter area b) Are free of a significant build up of chewing gum (more than 3 pieces per sqm) c) Are free from a significant build-up of dirt or dust d) Are free of spills and stains greater than 10cm x 10cm in each 10sq meter area e) Are free of a build up of bird waste f) Stairwells do not have an offensive odour in more than 1/4 of the assessed area.

  • Walls, Doors & Door Frames Are the external walls, doors and door frames clean? Inspect a section of the external building that contains a wall and door. This does not include public centre entry doors or the car park but may include emergency exit doors spilling to the buildings perimeter (not retailer doors). Answer YES if: 80% or more of the wall and door assessed is: a) Free from scale, mould or mildew b) Free from a build-up of dust, dirt, smears or hand prints c) Free from discolouration or stains d) Free from graffiti e) Free from cobwebs, dead insects or bird droppings.

  • Lights / Wall Lights Are the lights clean? Examine 5 lights in the assessment zone. Typically these will be lights secured to the outside of the building. Answer YES if: the lights were: a) Free from cobwebs or dead insects covering more than 10% of the fitting.

  • Car Park Entrance / Exit Is the entrance / exit to the car park clean and well presented? Inspect the entrance to the car park area (street section). The entry is the foot path area to the entrance of the Westfield car park. Answer YES if: There are no more than 3 of the following: a) Papers larger than 10cm x 10cm or plastic bags b) Liquid spills (drinks, water etc) c) Dry spills (fries, lollies etc) d) Any other form of rubbish larger than 10 cm x 10 cm's; PLUS e) That there is not a significant build up of dirt greater than 20cm x 20cm

  • Garden Beds Are the garden beds, planters or pot plants clean and well presented? Inspect all Westfield garden beds, planters and pot plants in the assessment zone. This includes fixed pot plants, large planters and garden beds but does not include nature strips or council property. (Note - this is not a review of the plants, but the surrounds that they are in) Answer YES if: each 10m length of garden bed, planter or pot is free from more than 3 of the following items: a) Papers, receipts or wrappers b) Gum or cigarette butts (3 cigarette butts = 1 piece of litter) c) Food scraps, bottles or other litter (10cm x 10cm food scraps = 1 piece of litter); PLUS d) Free of mould, mildew, rust stains or calcium build up on the planters; and e) Free of any graffiti.

  • External Signage and Awnings Are external signage and awnings clean? Examine any external signage and awnings along the perimeter you assess. This includes Centre Signage (e.g. Westfield signs, banners, graphics and flags) and Westfield branded Directional Signage (e.g. Entrance to Shops, Dock Numbers). Awnings includes metal, glass, Perspex, timber, plasterboard or combination awnings along the edge of the centre. Calculate the number of non-compliant surfaces as a percentage. Please calculate the number of non-compliant signs as a percentage. Answer YES if: 90% or more of signs were: a) Free from scale, mould or mildew b) Free from rust stains, calcium deposits or water marks c) Free from discolouration or stains d) Free from graffiti or vandalism e) Free from cobwebs, dead insects or bird droppings.

Car Park & Entrances

  • Car Park (bitumen and concrete) Is the car park clean? Examine the bitumen and concrete the area the size of 30 bays/car spaces in the assessment zone. Note: Select an undercover car park, if there is no undercover car park assess the outdoor car park. Answer YES if: no more than 3 (in total) of any of the following are present in the assessment zone: a) Papers larger than 10cm x 10cm, receipts, newspapers or plastic bags b) Drink bottles c) Food scraps and cigarette butts d) Any other form of rubbish larger than 10cm x 10cm; PLUS e) Free of a significant build up of grease, oil or dirt; and f) That trolley bays are free of a build up of dirt, grime and spills and contain less than 2 pieces of litter. Note: 10 cigarette butts = 1 item.

  • Rubbish Bins Are the rubbish bins clean? Please inspect 2 centre entrances (1 x from car park to centre entrance AND 2 x street entrance to centre) and assess 1 bin in the assessment zone (1 in each entrance audited). Answer YES if: a) Bins were not overflowing b) The outside of bin is not stained or marked with more than 2 dirty marks greater than 5 cm c) There is no more than 10 cigarette butts on the bin lid (outside bins only) d) The bins had a bin liner in place e) There is no offensive odours emanating from the bins f) The bin has less than 10% build-up of visible dust or grime on the base, sides or top.

Answer YES if; a) 80% of the surfaces are free from a build up of dirt, dust, grime, scale, mould, mildew, rust stains, water marks or calcium (build up is considered greater than 2mm); AND b) There are less than 3 stains, areas of discolouration or bird droppings greater than 10cm2 c) There are less than 3 cobwebs d) There is no graffiti.

  • Entry Mats Is the entry mat clean and in position? Inspect 2 centre entrances (1 - from car park to centre entrance AND 2 - street entrance to centre) and assess entry mat in the assessment zone. Answer YES if: the entry mat: a) Has less than 1 piece of litter greater than 10cm x 10 cm on it b) Does not have a visible build up of dust or dirt c) Has less than 2 pieces of gum on it; and d) Is located securely within the recessed fitting.

  • Automatic Payment Machines Are the Automatic Payment Machines clean? Inspect the closest APM to the assessment zone. Assess external surfaces of APM. This is only for the car park to centre entrance inside the centre. Answer YES if all pay machines are: a) Free from more than 2 smears, splashes or stains larger than 5cm b) Free from cobwebs, dead insects and visible dust or dirt build up c) Free from scale, mould or mildew d) Free from cleaning product build up.

  • Car Park Columns Are the columns/pylons clean? Examine the columns and pylons within the assessment zone (the size of 20 bays/car spaces). If shade cloths are installed, audit the support poles as for columns. Answer YES if; a) 80% of the surfaces are free from a build up of dirt, dust, grime, scale, mould, mildew, rust stains, water marks or calcium (build up is considered greater than 2mm); AND b) There are no more than 3 stains, areas of discolouration or bird droppings greater than 10cm x 10cm c) There are less than 3 cobwebs d) There is no graffiti

  • Centre Entrance Is the footpath and/or stairs, bollards and lights at the centre entrance clean? Inspect 2 centre entrances (1 x from car park to centre entrance AND 1 x street access to centre). Answer YES if: the wall, door, frames, handles, hinges and glass are: a) Free from streaks, smears or marks longer than 5cm b) Free from more than 2 hand prints c) Free from a visible build-up of dust or grime covering more than 10% of the fitting, door, wall or glass d) Free from graffiti and cobwebs e) Free from visible past cleaning attempts.

Food Court

  • All Tables, Bases, Chairs, Chair Legs & High Chairs Are tables, bases, chairs, legs and high chairs clean? Examine a maximum of 10 tables and accompanying chairs & 2 high chairs in the food court which are unattended. If there are less than 10 unattended tables/chairs and less than 2 unattended high chairs then assess what is available. Answer YES if: tables & chairs examined are free from: a) A build-up of dirt or grime (greater than 1mm) b) Scale, mould or mildew c) Cleaning product build up d) Smears or marks greater than 3cm in length; and e) Under tables free from less than 3 pieces of gum f) Between seat upholstery free of a build-up of crumbs, wraps or litter

  • Recycling & Cleaners Stations Are the recycling stations and cleaners stations clean and well presented? Inspect two recycling stations and one cleaners station. Inspect inside and around the stations. Answer YES if: all recycling stations and cleaners stations in the food court are: a) Free from a build-up of dirt or grime b) Free from cleaning product build up c) Free from smears, splashes or stains larger than 5cm d) Free from cobwebs, dead insects, dust or dirt build up e) Free from food scraps, sticky residue or fatty deposits larger than 5cm; and f) Free from more than 5 crockery items and 10 trays.

  • Floor (Terrazzo, Tiles, Wood Inlays, Marble) Is the floor clean? Inspect the food court floor. Answer YES if: throughout the assessment zone there are 5 or less pieces of rubbish or spills including: a) Papers larger than 10cm x 10cm, wrappers or plastic bags b) Liquid spills (drinks, water etc) c) Dry spills (fries, lollies etc) d) Food scraps (20cm x 20cm food scraps = 1 piece of rubbish) e) Any other form of rubbish; and f) Skirting boards free of less than 2 scuff marks per 3 meter section g) Skirting boards free of dust or grime build-up.

  • Lights / Wall Lights Are the ceiling and wall lights clean? Please examine 30 non-retailer lights in the food court general area. Answer YES if: 27 or more lights were: a) Free from dust, dirt or grime build up. Build up is considered greater than 1mm b) Free from cobwebs or dead insects.

  • Rubbish Bins Are the rubbish bins clean well presented? Examine 4 bins (or if less the 4 all bins available) in the assessment zone. These are rubbish bins that are not recycling stations. Answer YES if: a) Bins were not overflowing b) The outside of bin is not stained or marked with more than 2 dirty marks or smears greater than 5 cm c) The bins had a bin liner in place d) There is no offensive odours emanating from the bins e) The bin has less than 10% build-up of visible dust or grime on the base, sides or top.

  • Pot Plants Are the plants and pot plants within the food court clean? Examine the plants and pot plants in the general Food Court area. Answer YES if: plants and pot plants in the Food Court are free from 3 of the following; a) Papers, receipts or wrappers b) Gum or cigarette butts c) Food scraps, bottles or other litter d) Marks or smears greater than 5cm and dust greater than 1mm.

  • Windows & Glass Are the windows and glass panels clean? Please inspect the windows and glass panels. Answer YES if: 90% or more of the glass is; a) Free from streaks, smears or marks longer than 5cm b) Free from more than 2 hand prints per 5m length c) Free from a visible build-up of dust or grime d) Free from graffiti e) Free from visible past cleaning attempts.

  • Color coded cloths Were tables cleared and ready for use within 5 minutes of being vacated and was the cleaner using a green coloured cloth to wipe table surfaces? Answer YES if: after 5 minutes all the vacant tables were free from: a) Visible dirt, dust or sticky/greasy substances b) Food scraps, crumbs, smears or gum c) Trays, papers, plastic bags or general rubbish d) Graffiti or vandalism larger than 3cm e) Wet areas (from spills or just being wiped with a wet cloth) f) AND cleaner used green cloth to wipe table surfaces. Answer NO if: after 5 minutes you can see 1 or more vacant tables with: a) Visible dirt, dust or sticky/greasy substances b) Food scraps, crumbs, smears or gum c) Trays, papers, plastic bags or general rubbish d) Graffiti or vandalism larger than 3cm e) Wet areas (from spills or just being wiped with a wet cloth) f) AND/OR the cleaner did not use a Green cloth to wipe table surfaces.

Back of House

  • Dock Is the dock clean and well presented? Please examine at least one loading dock. Answer YES if: a) The dock floor is free of a build-up of in-ground grease and dirt b) The dock is reasonably free of litter considering usage c) 80% of wall surfaces are free from smears, splashes, grease, food stuffs, grime or dirt d) 90% of signage is free from smears, splashes, grease, food stuffs, grime or dirt e) 90% of door surfaces are free from smears, splashes, grease, food stuffs, grime or dirt f) More than 1/2 of the dock has a strong offensive odour g) There are less than 2 visible cobwebs

  • Waste Management Are bins, compactors, traps, drains and equipment clean? Please inspect waste management equipment on the dock. Answer YES if: 70% of compactors, bins, traps, drains and equipment is a) Free of a build-up of in-ground grease and dirt PLUS b) Drains flow freely c) Used cooking oil tanks are free of a build-up of oil on the top and sides

  • Service Corridors Corridors & Service Doors Are corridor passages and service doors clean? Please inspect at least two passageways. Answer YES if: a) There is no build-up of dust, grime or dirt on the floor b) There is no build-up of dust, marks or grime on the walls c) There is no more than 2 instances of graffiti d) More than 90% of light fittings are free from a build-up of dead insects e) More than 90% of the ceiling is free from splatters, grime, dust or marks f) More than 90% of the emergency exit and service doors are free from a build-up of dust, marks or grime and customer facing stainless steel plates are polished where installed.

  • Emergency Exit Staircases Are the emergency exit stairwells clean? Please inspect fire escapes and stairwells within assessment zone. Answer YES if: all fire escapes and stairwells: a) Have less than 4 pieces of litter greater than 10cm x 10cm in each 20sq meter area b) Are free of a significant build up of chewing gum c) Are free of spills and stains greater than 10cm x 10cm in each 20sq meter area d) Stairwells do not have an offensive odour in more than 1/4 of the assessed area e) Are free from a significant build-up of dirt or dust f) Are free from more than two items of graffiti.

  • Goods Lifts Is the good lift clean? Please examine at least one goods lift. Answer YES if: the goods lift was clean and meets the following standard. a) Lift floors are free from more than 2 pieces of rubbish greater than 10cm x 10cm b) Lift walls are free from more then 4 marks and smears greater than 5cm in length c) Lift door tracks are free from a build-up of dirt, dust or grime d) Lift floors free of grease or oil e) Lights are free from a build-up of dirt, grime or insects f) Vents are free from a build-up of dirt, dust or grime greater than 1mm thick.

  • Staff Toilets Are the staff toilets clean? Please examine at least one staff toilet. Answer YES if: a) Toilet bowls and seats are free from a build-up of waste or grime (i.e. more than 1 day use) b) Floors are free from a build-up of dirt, dust or grime (including corners and skirting boards) c) More then 90% of the wall surface is free from a build-up of smears, marks or grime d) More than 90% of the ceiling is free from splatters, grim, dust or marks e) Taps, basins, pipes and bench tops are free from a build-up of scale, mould, dirt, grime or water f) Mirrors are free of more than 1 smear or streak greater than 5cm in length g) Doors, handles, grilles and hinges are free from a build-up of dirt, dust or grime h) There is no more than 2mm of dust build-up on vents.

Cleaners Rooms

  • Walls & Floors Are the walls and floors clean? Please inspect at least one cleaners room. Answer YES if: a) There is no a build-up of dust, grime or dirt on the floor b) There is no a build-up of dust, marks or grime on the walls c) More than 90% of the ceiling is free from splatters, grim, dust or marks d) More than 90% of the door surface is free from a build-up of dust, marks or grime and customer facing stainless steel plates are polished where installed.

  • Equipment & Chemical Storage Are chemicals and equipment stored in an appropriate manner? Please inspect at least one cleaners room. Answer YES if: a) MSDS sheets are available for all chemicals in the cleaners room b) Equipment is stored in a tidy and organised manner c) Equipment is clean and well maintained d) At least one days supply of chemicals are available e) There are no chemical spills or contamination.

  • Scullery Kitchen (Scullery) Is the kitchen clean? Please inspect the scullery if in operation. Answer YES if: a) Work surfaces are free of a build-up of crockery and cutlery b) A cleaning/sanitising program is in place c) Floors are free of a build-up of dirt, food scraps, oil and grime d) Waste bins are clean, not over flowing and have a bin liner e) There is no a build-up of dust, marks or grime on the walls f) 90% or more of the ceiling is free from smears, marks and grime.

Centre Management Offices

  • Floors & Ledges Are the floors and ledges clean? Answer YES if the; a) Floors have been vacuumed in line with the agreed schedule PLUS b) There is no build up of dust or grime on floors, skirting or ledges.

  • Rubbish Bins Are rubbish bins clean and empty? Answer YES if: rubbish bins; a) Are emptied in line with the agreed schedule b) Are free of a build up of dirt or grime

  • Kitchenette Is the kitchenette clean and tidy? Answer YES if; a) Floors are swept and mopped in line with the agreed schedule b) Benches are wiped and sanitised in line with the agreed schedule c) Dishes are cleaned and stacked away in line with the agreed schedule.

  • Glass Is the glass clean? Answer YES if: the glass is: a) Free from streaks, smears or marks b) Free from a visible build-up of dust or grime covering more than 10% of the fitting, door or glass c) Free from visible past cleaning attempts.

  • Furniture Is the furniture clean? Answer YES if: the furniture is: a) Free from a build up of dust or grime b) Free from marks and smears c) Polished to a high lustre when required.

Plant Rooms

  • Plant Rooms Are plant room clean? Please inspect 2 plant rooms in the assessment zone. Answer yes if: the plant room a) Has less than 2 pieces of litter b) Is free of boxes or bags of rubbish and debris c) If free of a build up of dirt, dust or grime.
