  • What are the means of raising an emergency alarm on site? (Note: describe systems in comments below)

  • Are extinguishers displaying an annual Service label?

  • Fire Marshal contact details displayed on site?

First Aid Arrangeements

  • Is there a first aid record book?

  • Are there any entries in the book? (Note: if YES attach images).(

  • Is the first aid station signposted at site?

  • Is the first aid kit adequately stocked?

  • Is there evidence of regular inspections of first aid kits available?

  • If stocks are depleted, cross-check missing items against entries in first aid book

Hazardous Substances

  • Is there a lockable CoSHH cabinet / container on site?

  • Are any trades using hazardous substances during this site inspection?

  • If YES, are they listed in the task RAMS?

  • Does the working party have CoSHH assessments for the substances?

  • Are there working party using the correct PPE as required in the CoSHH assessment?

  • Can the working party describe the Emergency response to a colleague who may have ingested the substance?

  • Can the working party describe the disposal requirements for the substances?

Welfare

  • Are there adequate toilet / washroom provisions for the number of workers and visitors to site?

  • Are all welfare facilities cleaned to a reasonable standard?

  • Soap and towels provided?

  • Is the canteen suitable for. The number of workers and visitors at site?

  • If NO, has the site manager made arrangements for staff, contractors and visitors to stagger breaks?

  • Adequate drying and changing facilities?

  • Is drinking water provided?

Site Operations

  • Lifting operations underway?

  • If YES, is there control of the lift area to prevent unauthorized access?

  • Observe example plant operations. Are amber beacons operating when plant item is in use?

  • Do plant items have a green ‘seatbelt connected’ beacon?

  • If YES, observe that green beacon does not continue operating when a driver dismounts.

  • Do plant items have reversing alarms?

  • Are all safety devices being used correctly?

  • All operatives, delivery drivers and visitors in the com area wearing the required PPE?

  • Is site access controlled to prevent unauthorized entry by third parties?

  • Emergency muster point clearly signposted?

  • Safety signage across site displayed and in good condition?

  • Is housekeeping acceptable in all communal areas?

  • If NO, attach images and area descriptions below.

  • Are there any power lines or other services over sailing the construction footprint?

  • Does the working party have a KUS issued safety document (eg hot works, breaking ground, work at height)?

  • Does the working party have a Client issued safety document (eg PTW, LOA)?

Excavations

  • Are ALL site excavations adequately protected to prevent unauthorized / inadvertent access?

  • Deep Excavation signs displayed where required?

  • Does the working party hold a current permit to dig?

Working at Height

  • Temporary scaffold structures on site?

  • If YES, is the inspection tag signed, dated and within the 7 day inspection regime?

  • If NO to the 7 day inspection compliance, is the tag displaying the red ‘DO NOT USE’ face?

  • Are there ladders or stepladder on site?

  • If YES, are they recorded on a ladder register?

  • Are ladders / stepladders in good (visible) condition?

  • Are ladders Class 1 / Class 2? (Note: Class 3 ladders are for domestic use only).

  • Do those working at height have safe attachment points or other protection to prevent falls? (Note: describe arrangements below).

  • Is the work at height element of the task clearly described and controlled in the RAMS?

  • Do the persons working at height hold the require training and authorizations?

  • Are harnesses and other fall arrest equipment inspected?

Use of Hand Tools / Portable Tools

  • Are there hand tools in use by any trades at the time of the site inspection?

  • If YES, are they in good (visual) condition?

  • Are power cables protected from water and other damage?

  • Do users undertake pre-use checks of tools?

The Environment

  • Site waste - is waste segregated where reasonably practicable?

  • Is overflowing waste avoided?

  • Is there provision for securely storing hazardous waste whilst awaiting disposal?

  • Are drip trays available and in use where required?

  • Are spill kits available on site?

  • If YES, is the stock in good order and of adequate volumes?

  • Are tree conservation measures imposed on the project?

  • Are there surrounding ditches that require special measures to prevent pollution?

  • Is there suitable emergency protection measures for surface water drains?

CCTV

  • Is there a CCTV system installed?

  • Is suitable signage displayed on the outward facing boundary fences?

  • Is the stored footage readily accessible by the site management team?
