3.0 General

3.1 Machine guards are in place and functional to prevent contact with moving parts

3.2 All moving parts (gears, sprockets, pulleys, flywheels, belts and chains) are guarded.

3.3 No evidence exists to indicate guards have been modified or tempered with.

3.4 Guards removed for maintenance only after equipment has been properly de-energized

3.5 Improvised or home made tools are prohibited and none were observed

3.6 Fail-to-safe (deadman) switches installed on all manually operated equipment (i.e. saws, lathes, drills, etc.)

3.7 All tools and equipment are formally inspected on a quarterly basis and tagged properly.

3.8 All tools are visually inspected prior to use and defective ones tagged out of service.

3.9 All grinders are equipped with a secondary handle and are operated using two hands.
