Procedure

  • Is there a written and approved site procedure for Conveyors?

  • Has it been communicated to the employees and contractors?

Appointment

  • Has a competent person resposible for conveyors bee appoined in writing by the Generel Manager?

Conveyor equipment

  • Do all conveyors have start up alarms?

  • Do all conveyors near walkways have trip wires?

  • Do all conveyors have emergency stop buttons that are easily reachable?

  • Are there designated and clearly identifiable walkways with protection of falling objects under conveyors?

PPE and safety rules

  • Minimum clothing and PPE are: hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe capped boot and no loose clothing, jewellery or loose long hair

  • Nobody climbing over conveyor belts (unless that persons lock is on the conveyor lockout)?

  • Nobody riding on conveyor?

  • All guards are in place on all running conveyors?

  • Hotwork permit and permit to work obtained before any welding or cutting work?

  • No unbogging or entering of feeders and feed chutes while the conveyor is running.

  • Are conveyor access walkways, stairs and ladders clear ?

  • Counterweight areas closed in and locked?

Before start of work on a conveyor

  • On start up is everybody working on the conveyor or feed conveyor or associated equipment notified?

  • Is the conveyor unloaded or locked on both sides?

  • Is the power supply disconnected by removing fuses and switches in locked position?

  • Are control levers chained and padlocked?

  • Are danger tags placed on all start up points?
