Day 1 Activities

  • On-the-Job Checklist

    All Teammates assigned a curriculum in Car-X Academy have an on-the-job (OJT) Checklist that must be completed. Training Managers are Required to Sign & Acknowledge and Record the Status to complete within iAuditor. If this step is NOT completed, the Teammate is unable to proceed to their next assignment within the curriculum.

  • Familiarize Teammate with location and usage of Personal Protective Equipment

  • Familiarize Teammate with location of Lift It Right manual and lift types.

  • Observe Teammate properly setting vehicle on each lift type. <br>

  • Familiarize Teammate with Store’s Fire Extinguisher locations.

  • Validate understanding of how to properly use a fire extinguisher

  • Familiarize Teammate with Hazard Communication SDS lookup procedure

  • Verify Teammate understands OSHA required Lock Out / Tag Out procedures and where equipment is located.

  • Verify Teammate understands Acetylene Torch Safety including usage, required protective equipment and tank storage

  • Verify Teammate understands Welding Equipment Safety including usage and required protective equipment

  • Verify Teammate understands Floor Jack/Stand usage and safety procedures.

  • Observe Teammate properly lifting a vehicle using Floor Jack/Jack Stands

  • Verify Teammate understands Rolling Bridge Jacks including usage

  • Verify Teammate understands Safety Chains usage and procedures

  • Verify Teammate understands Bay Navigation and Buddy System procedures

  • Observe Teammate demonstrating Bay Navigation/Buddy System process

  • Verify Teammate understands Road Test Route policy and usage

  • Review policy at Communication Board, highlighting the designated route

  • Verify Teammate understands Oil Change Safety procedures.

  • Have Teammate observe Oil Change Safety procedures in use.

  • Familiarize Teammate with Oil Caddie usage and drainage procedures.

  • Observe and assist Teammate perform Oil Caddie tasks.

  • Verify Teammate understands Key Control and Guest Vehicle Safety Standards

  • Verify Teammate understands Service Bay Organization Standards

  • Walk around Bay area to clarify expectations.

  • Verify Teammate understands Store Housekeeping Standards

  • Print and review Daily, Weekly and Monthly Housekeeping expectation checklists

  • Verify Teammate understands Equipment Organization Standards

  • Show/familiarize Teammate with equipment storage area, storage location and equipment storage standards

  • Verify Teammate understands Guest Safety Pathway procedures and expectations when Guest is in Service Bay area

  • Verify Teammate understands 20 ft Guest Engagement Rule and role play proper Guest greeting

Sign and Acknowledge

  • IMPORTANT! If electronic sign-off is not complete, the New Hire Teammate is unable to move forward with their curriculum.

  • Once you Record the status and mark the OJT “Completed”, the Teammate’s career path in Car-X Academy must be updated to show the learning object as Completed so they can continue to their next training object
