Criteria

  • Is the contractor on the “Approved Suppliers List”

  • Has the contractor and all staff working on behalf of them hold a Contractors Passport, and have they received and have access to the “Estates Contractors Health and Safety Guide”.

  • Have the contractors signed in & have ID badges

  • Is the contractor following the Trusts policy & procedures including safe working practices and systems of work including Hot and/or Dusty Work Permits etc.

  • Has the contractor given adequate notice for any shutdowns required?

  • Has the contractor been issued with a work instruction for the work identified (does the contractor know what they are doing)?

  • Are required drawings, specifications & procedures available

  • Do they have access to their risk assessments & method statements at or close to the point of work?

  • Does the risk assessment reflect the task being conducted?

  • Are the contractors staff adequately trained and competent in carrying out the identified task, are records of training held on file or do they hold competence cards (eg CSCS, CPCS PASMA)

  • Is there adequate supervision in place?

  • Is the correct equipment being used and where applicable is it correctly certified / calibrated (PAT, LOLER, Work at Height)

  • Is the work area secured with adequate separation from patients/public

  • Is the level of housekeeping and dust control adequate?

  • Are fire doors, fire escape routes and corridors free of obstacles and obstructions

  • Are items stored properly & securely in designated areas

  • Have any additional hazards been made good (fire stopping, trip, head strike, falls, detector heads covered, dead legs removed, redundant cables removed etc)

  • Have logs or service reports been completed & received by Estates

  • Is the client satisfied with the way the work is being carried out?

  • Have the applicable asset records (drawings etc) been updated
