Door Closer Operation

  • 1. Is the door self closer fixed to door and frame securely?

  • 1a. Has door closing arm been separated from the frame?

  • 1b. Is there any oil leaking from the door SC device?

  • 1c. Does the door close fully onto the door stops?

Door Handles

  • 1. Is the door handle functioning correctly?

  • 2. Are they loose or missing?

  • 3. Can the door be opened without the use of a key?

  • 4. If required to do so, does the door open in direction of travel to the fire exit?

Door Seals

  • 1. Does the door have intumescent seals around the top and 2 edges (not the bottom of the door) or in the door frame?

  • 2. Are the fire seals in good condition? (i.e. not missing or damaged)

  • 3. Does the door (or frame) have cold smoke seals in the form of brushes or rubber strip?

  • 3a. Are they in good condition, missing or damaged?

Glazing in Door

  • 1. Is the glazing in the fire door loose, does it rattle or is it broken?

  • 2. Are the vision panels in the door clear and unobstructed to provide safety to door uses on both sides if the leaf?

Door Hinges

  • 1. Does the door leaf have have 3 or more hinges?

  • 2. Are they loose or are screws missing?

Door Damage

  • 1. Is the door damaged?

  • 1a. Take a photo of damaged.

Doors Wedged Open

  • 1. Has door wedged open with anything that is not a approved device complying with BS5839? (Remove obstruction and report persons if known)

  • 1a. Take a photo of obstruction
