MONTHLY CHECKS - These checks are to be completed on a monthly basis. If the checkbox is checked then the item/task is deemed satisfactory. If there is any non conforming items the box must remain unchecked until the task is completed. If a task is incomplete because of damaged equipment, then a picture must be taken using the media facility at the end of the audit. The FM must be notified immediately, and then the item logged within the Corrective Action Log located on the Shared Drive.

CV Equipment Cleaning - Incl. Group Cycling Bikes

  • Monthly Tasks:

    1. Using a separate heart rate monitor, put on the transmitter strap and check that the machine and the separate monitor both measure the same heart rate, and that when the strap is disconnected the machine does not receive any signal.
    2. Using a separate heart rate meter, check that, when the sensors are gripped, both the machine and the separate meter read out the same frequency, and that when the sensors are released the machine does not detect any signal.
    3. Check the state of wear of the pedals, pedal straps, hand grips, foot plates. Report if they show evident signs of wear.
    4. Select the manual training program on all cycles/steppers/x-trainers & AMTs, checking that, when the difficulty level is changed, the resistance of the machine varies accordingly.
    5. Remove the drum of the concept 2 and wipe the fan clean, then hoover the inside of the drum ensuring all dust has been removed.

Fitness Resistance Equipment Cleaning

    1. Clean the interior with a vacuum cleaner, concentrating especially on the weight stack area, the electronic control box - if applicable, and, where present, the seat mechanisms. Report any worn parts.
    2. Check the wear status of the machine cables, paying special attention to any hardened spots or discoloration in the protective plastic of the cable. Report any worn parts
    3. Check the machine cables are firmly fastened to cams, pulleys and/or the ends connected to ball joints. Report any worn parts
    4. Check the tension of the machine cables. Report any worn parts
    5. Check the wear status of the machine mechanisms: lever arms, shafts, lever systems. Report any worn parts.
    6. Check the wear status of the pulley grooves. Report any worn parts
    7. Check the wear status of the cam grooves. Report any worn parts
    8. Check all parts in the cam group are firmly tightened.
    9. Do not select any weight, and lift the cross. Make sure that the sinker is central over the plate hole, and that all plates in the weight stack may be selected without any strain on the selection knob.

    CAUTION: when performing these operations, take care not to damage the wiring, report any cable or wiring faults.
