INSPECTION REPORT

  • Exits / Aisles and Means of Egress

  • Verify all exit doors are clear and unobstructed, with the access aisles clear as wide as the door’s full open width and clear stairways in multi level facilities

  • Verify emergency exit doors have panic hardware with no locks, open easily and freely to their full open position

  • Verify exit signs are visible and direct path to exit. Verify exit signs are installed at the exit doors

  • Confirm that all external fire exists routes are not obstructed.

  • Confirm that all external lights are working

  • Confirm that all gas bottles are in a locked cage

  • Confirm that all internal fire escape routes are not obstructed.

  • Confirm that the door to the Boiler room is locked

  • Confirm that all fire doors can be opened, especially in the warehouse.

  • Fire Extinguishers

  • Verify fire extinguishers are visible, properly marked, and accessible (not blocked)

  • Confirm fire extinguishers have been serviced and tagged by a fire extinguisher service company within previous 12 months (or according to an annual maintenance plan)

  • Confirm the pin for each fire extinguisher is in place

  • Confirm the pressure is correct for the water extinguishers.

  • Confirm that the fire extinguisher sign is in place (glued to the wall) for each extinguisher.

  • Confirm that there is a Dry powder 6l extinguisher near to the external gas bottle cage.

  • Fire Protection System

  • Confirm the fire protection has been serviced within the previous 12 months

  • Fire Alarm and Emergency lights

  • Confirm that a different break glass point (BGU) has been tested this week compared to last week.

  • Confirm that a different emergency light (green LED) has been tested this week compared to last week.

  • Confirm that the fire alarm test instruction are laminated and near to the fire alarm system in reception.

  • FLT Gas bottles

  • Verify the gas bottle cage is at least 5m away from the building

  • Confirm that the gas bottle cage is locked

  • Maintenance / Housekeeping

  • Confirm that the bins / skips in the yard are not full.

  • Confirm that the wooden pallets in the yard are stacked safely

  • Confirm that the rubbish bins in the warehouse are not overflowing

  • Confirm that there are no combustible materials next to wall heaters

  • Confirm that there are no boxes etc within 1.5m of an overhead light source i.e. a light bulb. Check cage area racking in the warehouse

  • Confirm that all fire doors are closed but not locked

  • Confirm the air con unit in the server room is working

  • Confirm that the fire assembly point in the car park is displayed

  • Confirm that there a is spill kit available in the yard for petrol / Diesel spills

  • Confirm that the fire wardens are wearing their RED hi-vis jackets.

  • Confirm that the fire information folder in reception has up to date documents inside it.

  • Gas bottle Storage

  • Verify containers are stored outside the building in a secured cage when not in use.

  • Records

  • Confirm each lockable notice board has a written evacuation plan and map posted inside

  • Confirm that the operatives on site are aware of the nearest break glass points in their area and assembly point from the building.
