Hazardous Substances / Dangerous Goods

  • Ensure employees are briefed and understand the safe working procedures and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) Requirements for the handling, use, storage and disposal of Hazardous Substances / Dangerous Goods.

  • Ensure that non hazardous substances / non dangerous goods are to be used in the first instance .<br>Where this is not practical, a risk assessment should be conducted Via a SWMS/JSA and communicated to all persons involved.<br>MSDS to be held for all Hazardous substances / Dangerous Goods.

  • Amend hazardous substance register to reflect details of the Hazardous Substance / dangerous Goods stored at the work place.

  • Ensure storage arrangements for dangerous goods and hazardous substances are in accordance with legislative and MSDS requirements.

  • Ensure that all MSDS are current (not greater than 5 years) made available at first aid locations and hazardous substances / dangerous goods locations.

  • Handle, use, store and dispose of Hazardous Substances / Dangerous Goods in accordance with the safe working procedures.

  • Ensure that workers removing asbestos material are appropriately licensed and that controls are in place to prevent inadvertent asbestos contact.<br>Where asbestos is located at the workplace, an asbestos management plan is to be developed.
