Hazardous Trees

  • 1. Have you identified all trees for which you are responsible/on land owned or occupied by yourself?

  • 2. Are they subject to tree preservation orders?

  • 3. In the event of an incident could they cause injury or damage to persons and property?

  • 4. Do you have a strategy to ensure risks are identified, assessed and controlled?

  • 5. Is there a risk to members of the public, e.g. play areas, footpaths, bridleways, roadside, nearby seating areas, etc.?

  • 6. Is there a particular risk to children, e.g. proximity of housing, evidence of climbing, swings, etc.?

  • 7. Have the risks been assessed?

  • 8. Has the frequency of inspection been determined?

  • 9. Have inspections been completed by a competent person at the required frequency?

  • 10. Are informal observations undertaken?

  • 11. Are formal inspections completed?

  • 12. Are detailed inspections carried out?

  • 13. Are inspections undertaken following bad weather?

  • 14. Are barriers/fencing/access prevention in good order?

  • 15. If using contractors have the insurance requirements been met?

  • 16. Are suitable records of inspection maintained?
