  • All saunas are at correct temperature (approx. 98 degrees Sauna, Finish Sauna 90 degrees, Sanarium/bio sauna 60 degrees)

  • All benches in sauna are in good condition and safe to use (including walls and ceilings)

  • Sauna/steam room smells fresh (with essence at applicable clubs)

  • All lights working in saunas and steam rooms

  • Steam room walls are clean and no body fat evident (not slimy to the touch)

  • All lights working in the relaxation room (not shining too brightly)

8.0 Pool Area

Pool, Pool Area

  • Walkways are free from large pools of standing water

  • Are "slippery when wet" signs displayed where necessary?

  • Tiles and joints (caulking) are free from mold and relatively clean

  • Pool water is crystal clear

  • Lights in the pool area are working

  • Pool drainage (along side of the pool) is clean and clear of rubbish, hair etc.,

  • Pool area rules are displayed and current/ up to date

  • Loungers in pool area are in good condition and free from unused towels

  • Pool life saving equipment present & visible. (must be in good working order)

  • If an aqua class is in session, are all electric cables waterproof and are not a possible tripping hazard? (N/A if no class in session)

  • All aqua class and other pool equipment is stored away correctly and neatly

Pool Tech. Room

  • All safety equipment is available for use and in good condition

  • Pool Tech. room is tidy and clean from any extra rubbish

  • Are all chemical canisters stored away properly and safely?(for example: full canisters should be stored on a metal drip pan)

  • All pool tests are completed and within parameters. Any required action recorded where appropriate. (ALL days-NO exceptions)

  • Pool water temperature is correct. (Large pool: 26.5-28, Small pool: 31-33, Whirlpool: 35-37)

9.0 Gym Area

Gym Area

  • Air conditioning is working, at a comfortable temperature, with all vents free of dust and damage (including fresh air vents)

  • All walls are clean with no marks or damage (including skirt boards)

  • All lights are working in the gym area(s)

  • Floor is clean with no dust or sweat marks evident. (check also corners and skirting boards)

  • Music is on and can be heard in the background at all times

  • All TV's in the gym area are turned on and working. None of the TV's should be showing inappropriate channels (daytime TV, kids programs, offensive news etc)

  • This is the current " out of order" signage that should be in use on all equipment

  • All machines are working with a max. of 5 out of order. (they must have the current "out of order" signage to receive a " yes". More than 5 is a direct "no")

  • Are the cardio machines TVs working? (try 10 machines, max 7 must work in order to receive a "yes")

  • All machines are clean with no sweat marks or dust

  • All pads on resistant equipment are clean and free from tears or any other damage

  • All yoga/gym mats are clean and free of damage. (they should also be stored correctly)

  • All matted areas are clean without any damage

  • All equipment is stored away, which is not in use, with no trip hazards. "Areas are clutter free". (min. 2 meters distance behind treadmills)

  • Disinfection spray and paper towels are available for use in the training areas

  • Hand disinfection spray/gel available for members use in the gym area

  • Paper towel dispensers & rubbish bins are clean and in good condition

  • Are the gym equipment checklists completed and up to date?

  • Is there documentation of equipment and machine inspections, and is it completed? (This should be done 2/month)

Gym Area Service

  • Are all team members wearing correct dress code with name tag on? (please check current dress code)

  • Are members being acknowledged by our HP trainer team members? (simple hello/goodbye or non-verbal gesture is also acceptable. Smile or eye contact)

  • Could one of the HP trainer team members answer a question regarding one of the club services or group fitness classes? (please only approach trainers who are not in a 1:1 session or Xpress class)

  • Observe the "on duty" HP trainer, were they providing a premium level of service? 0-6: not at all, 7-8: met expectation, 9-10: exceeds expectation. (observe the HP trainer for a min. of 10 minutes before rating)

10.0 Group Exercise Studios

  • Group Fitness and Xpress class timetables are displayed and up to date

  • Air conditioning is working at a comfortable temperature, with all vents free from dust

  • Floors clear of sweat marks and no dust evident

  • Mirrors are smear free and clean

  • Mirrors are in good condition (none are cracked or broken)

  • Walls are clean with no damage or marks

  • All lights are working when turned on

  • All equipment is in good condition (nothing broken or looking poor)

  • All equipment is stored and put away safely when not in use (no higher than 1.5 meters)

  • All yoga/gym mats are clean and free of damage. (should be stored properly)

  • Are all bikes clean with no old sweat marks evident?

  • All bike seats and handlebars are returned to either the base position or fully extended when not in use

  • All foot straps (on spinning bikes) are in good condition with none missing

  • All bikes "out of order" are removed from the studio where possible. (If bikes are not removed they must be marked appropriately with the correct brand signage)

  • If there are bikes out of order, how many in the studio exactly?

  • Disinfection spray and paper towels are available for use in all studios. (in spinning studio please ensure there are 2 at each station)

  • All studio music systems are in good working order, as well as instructor microphones. (they should provide a clear and professional sound)

11.0 General

  • Are cleaners dressed in branded uniform and easy to identify?

  • Test the product knowledge of 2 other HP team members. (other than who has already been asked) Ask them to explain a group exercise class/Xpress class in detail. ALL must answer correctly to get a "pass"

  • Is there evidence of a club maintenance reporting system in the club, and is it being used by all team members?

  • All emergency exits signage working around the club

  • All fire escapes are clear

  • Set off panic alarm in the club. Response time should be no longer than 2 minutes. Arriving on the scene must be a trained first aider with a fully stocked first aid box and defibrillator

  • Is the defibrillator up to date and working

  • First aid boxes are fully stocked and not using expired products. (check 2 boxes)

  • All fire equipment is clean, well maintained and not out of date. These should be hung appropriately on the wall. (not sitting on the floor)

  • Does the club have "extra's" to help repair or fix maintenance issues "same day" (light bulbs, locker fixtures, extra hair dryers, bike straps etc)

  • Check website to see if club information and club teams are up to date

  • Call the club. How long does it take before someone answers? (either time or how many "rings")

  • Are members activities being promoted around the club?

  • All member welcome packages are well presented, up to date information and include a events journal

  • Are sales team members using the HP standard exercise history to present prices?

12.0 Kinderbetreung

  • Does this club have a Kinderbetreung?

  • Is the Kinderbetreung properly branded & marketed as a part of the HP premium brand?

  • Are the main doors clean and smear free, creating a good first impression?

  • Are the opening times/operational hours clearly displayed?

  • Are the house rules displayed for all members to see before entering the room?

  • Is there hand disinfection spray/gel available for use at the entrance of the area?

  • Is the reception area clean (clean floors, clean floor mats, clear path ) & reception desk clear, with no more than 2 items on the desk?

  • Are there staff profiles available for members to see? (name badges are not possible working with children, so a profile helps to inform members who works there and what their names are)

  • Are HP/Kinderbetreung team members dressed appropriately according to the HP premium brand dress code?

  • Are all access barriers working and in use?

  • Is the area properly ventilated?

  • Does the kinderbetreung have a good/fresh scent? (Not smelling like old diapers)

  • Are latex gloves available for staff use? (for changing diapers etc)

  • Is there a proper diaper disposal unit available and in use? ( needs to be in good condition)

  • Are all rubbish bins themselves clean and in good condition? And not overflowing.

  • All sinks are clean with no surface water present

  • All dispensers are full with product. ( eg: hand soap, toilet paper etc.)
