Worksite Safety

Working from Heights

  • Has the climbing or EWP crew carried out a pre start check (refer to VEM10-05A Vegetation Safety Observer Checklist - Climbing & VEM 10-05B Vegetation Safety Observer Checklist - EWP)

  • Are chin straps being utilised on hard hat while climbing?

  • Is the climber attached at 2 points ( whilst using cutting equipment)?

  • Is the harness & lanyard appropriately attached (EWP)?

  • Does the plant/vehicle meet working from heights requirements - I.e handrails, CDD fitted?

Risk Related

  • Has a risk assessment been carried out & all crew members signed on understanding the risks?

  • If risks have been identified have measures been put in place to mitigate against them?

  • Do crew members understand their SADS clearances in relation to the task being performed as per Ausnet Services additional clearances requirements?

Equipment/Plant

  • Has pre start work checks been conducted & logbook completed (if required)?

  • Is cutting equipment in safe working order, no oil leaks, chain brake working, chain catcher unmarked?

  • Is cutting equipment being used safely & in accordance with work procedures and/or instructions?

Suppressions

  • Is the work being performed in accordance with Ausnet Services Suppression Procedure?

  • Has the line been suppressed & how was the few notified?

  • Is there a suppression application on site & can crews identify their location?

  • Has the KYLE 'E' OCR been suppressed & if so has it been tagged & was CEOT notified?

Environmental

  • Is herbicide being applied correctly as per product direction & application record completed?

  • Is the observance to significant roadside areas as outlined in the Ausnet Services cutting procedure?

  • Are appropriate cutting techniques being observed as per Ausnet Services Cutting Procedure?

  • Is the vegetation being actioned devoid of native fauna?

  • Is there control measures in place to avoid the spread of plant & animal disease & soil disturbance?
