The Base of the Scaffold

  • Does the scaffold have a tag on that is in date (within the last 7 days)

  • Has the area where the scaffold is being erected been segregated/barriered off

  • You MUST NOT access the scaffold until you can confirm via a scaffold register that the scaffold has been inspected and is safe to use.

  • Is there a red - DO NOT USE SCAFFOLD tag showing

  • Are there sole boards in place under all legs where required?

  • Are the sole boards in good condition

  • Can the Base jacks be adjusted easily?

  • Are transoms present on the bottom 'V' pressings

  • Are the transoms in good condition

  • Are the wedges present and driven home correctly

  • Are the ledgers present and fitted correctly

  • Is the base 'Square'

  • Has the base platform (Steelstage) been erected correctly

  • Is the base platform in good condition

The Scaffold

  • Are the diagonal braces fitted on the outside of the standards

  • Are the diagonal braces in good condition?

  • Has the working platform (Steelstage) been erected correctly

  • Is the platform (Steelstage) in good condition

  • Has Edge protection been installed? (This can be either Kwikguard or Steelstage)

  • Are guardrails fitted correctly

  • Are all wedges correctly driven home

  • Are ladders in good condition

  • Where ladders are used to access the scaffold from the base do they reach a minimum of 1m above the working platform

  • Are base ladders correctly tied off

  • Having completed the audit would you deem the scaffold safe to use?
