Purpose

  • The purpose of this evaluation is:

    a) To ensure lifeguards are maintaining Lifeguard Observation standards as per the Vigilance Evaluation Drill & KPIs;
    b) Lifeguards are maintaining the 30-Second Awareness Standard;
    c) Lifeguards are maintaining the 3-Minute Awareness Standard; and
    d) Lifeguards are executing the 5 Keys of Scanning as per the Vigilance Evaluation & Drill KPIs

Scope

  • The scope of this evaluation is limited to the examination and evaluation of activities undertaken by the Auditee, in relation to conforming to the Vigilance Evaluation Drill & KPIs.

Compliance Scoring

  • Performance criteria of an individual lifeguard observation are categorised as ‘EXCEEDs, MEETS or NRT’ (needs retraining).
    - If a lifeguard is observed completing all the criteria the result is a ‘MEETS’;
    - If a lifeguard is observed completing all the criteria and displays a performance above expectation, the result is an ‘EXCEEDS’;
    - If the lifeguard does not provide surveillance of swimmers (30 Second Awareness Standard) then the overall outcome for the evaluation will be ‘NRT’; and
    - If a lifeguard does not ‘MEET’ for two or more of the additional criteria, the overall outcome will be ‘NRT’.
