Site Inspection (mains)

  • Is breathing apparatus out ready for use and in date?

  • Are fire suits, gauntlets and balaclavas available for all operatives?

  • Are the current works subject to an RO/SRO/NRO?

  • If subject to one of the above procedures is the paperwork available and in date?

  • Is the host main clear of any obstructions?

  • Has the host main been supported? (check there are no joints within the excavation)

Mains Construction - Dead Insertion

  • Is the lay method dead insertion?

  • Are trumpets available to minimise damage to the new main?

  • Is there sufficient clearance to complete the operation?

  • Has a decay test been undertaken?

  • Are alignment clamps available?

  • Evidence that clamps have been used (add photos where possible)

Butt fusion

  • is all plant within date and calibrated

  • Is butt fusion being carried out?

  • Butt fusion carried out correctly and cooling times observed?

PE construction

  • Is all PE pipe stored correctly and free from damage

  • Is electrofusion being carried out?

  • Electrofusion fittings kept in original packaging until point of use?

  • Pipe scraped and clear of contamination?

  • Fusion cycles complete and cooling times observed?

  • Alignment clamps marked and fusion times written on fitting or pipe?

  • EUSR number recorded on fitting or pipe?

  • Is test equipment available / in use?

  • Has flow stop equipment been installed as per SGN work procedure?
