    This routine report should be completed every hour the facility is open to visitors, it is designed to be a quick check and can be read in conjunction with the more detailed opening routine carried out before the facility opens and secondary detailed report completed in the late afternoon/early evening.


    The purpose of creating this report has multiple uses:

    To assist at some point in the future to recreate the specific detail of weather and the ice surface of a particular session for the purposes of an investigation into an incident.

    To assist in the identification of issues associated with the refrigeration plant or ice surface and by checking them on an hour basis will avoid them becoming an issue.

    Document issues that if they should be recurring steps can be taken to rectify the issue.

    Provide background information to a refrigeration engineer in the event of breakdown.

    It is your opportunity to communicate issues to the Management team, and be proactive in providing a safe and efficient location.

Ice Conditions

  • Good condition should be interpreted as.
    being of desired thickness c70-80mm
    Smooth with no lumps, uneven areas or cracks
    No loose snow/scrapings
    Not too hard or brittle

  • Ice pad in good condition?

  • How best describes the ice?

  • A resurface, manual or mechanical should be carried out whenever possible between sessions. There may be a genuine reason for not having carried out the procedure and the result will not have a detrimental effect on the ice surface. If this becomes a recurring issue record it below so it can be managed in future.
